AUTHENTIC THAI FOOD WHERE YOU CAN TRULY TASTE THE LOVE. Coming from Indonesia to America I have determined find authentic food that really just hits home. my partner and I were immediately greeted and quickly brought to our tables. We were brought upstairs where it was extremely cozy and I was one step into being home. The menu was absolutely immaculate, prices were affordable and there were an endless amount of options, perfect for everyone. We ordered the bua duck and the pad see ew with beef, my favorite thai dish ever. I am very snobby about my asian food so i was skeptical at first. LET ME TELL YOU. both dishes were brought to our table and under eight minutes, right off the stove. The aromas filled the room and they brought a tray of chili oils and flakes along with it. The duck was phenomenal, the texture was perfect. The sauce wasn’t drowning out the taste of the duck, and every bite was phenomenal. finally, it was time to try the pad see ew. I turned my fork, grabbed the perfect amount of noodle versus beef. When I placed it on my tongue, I was transported back home. It was as if I was surrounded by the people I had grown up with. The same people who celebrate everything with food and food holds immense value in our culture. representation is so important and it is not talked about enough within food. Bua Thai has done stellar job at giving everyone the opportunity to experience the culture and beauty of these dishes. The texture of the noodles were perfectly cooked, not overdone, not undercooked the type that just melts in your mouth in the beef was cooked to perfection. they weren’t stingey at all with the portions, in all honesty I am still dreaming about that bite, this pad see ew was magical. it was so flavorful, and was even more delicious with some of the chili flakes and white pepper. i genuinely had to stop and reflect. we initially were going to go to Astoria right nearby before we stumbled upon this absolute GEM. besides the beef noodles at Astoria are double the price and taste more on the Panda express side of asian food than authentic.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bua Thai, and the experience was truly memorable from start to finish. Here’s a more detailed look at what made this visit so enjoyable.

### Warm and Welcoming Atmosphere
From the moment we walked in, the staff at Bua Thai were exceptionally warm and attentive. Their friendly demeanor made us feel right at home. We opted to sit upstairs on the second floor, which offered a spacious and relaxed environment. The seating arrangement provided plenty of room, making it comfortable for our group without feeling crowded. The ambiance was cozy yet vibrant, perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions.

### Unique and Refreshing Drinks
One of the standout features of our meal was the drink selection. I tried the Melon Delight, an exotic cocktail that was both refreshing and beautifully balanced in flavor. It was a perfect complement to the spicy and savory dishes we ordered later. The presentation was appealing, and it felt like a special treat, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal.

### Delicious Starters
We began with the Satay Chicken, which was grilled to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning and a rich peanut sauce that my 7-year-old absolutely loved. It’s always great to find dishes that cater to younger palates without compromising on flavor. Alongside that, the veggie dumplings were a delightful surprise—crispy on the outside and packed with savory goodness inside. They were a great vegetarian option and a perfect appetizer to share.

### Flavorful Main Courses
For the main course, the Veggie Drunken Noodles were outstanding. The noodles were cooked just right—soft but not mushy—and the tofu was flavorful and well-seasoned, absorbing the sauce beautifully. The dish had a nice balance of heat and savory notes, making it very satisfying. We also ordered the green curry, which was on the spicier side but incredibly rich and aromatic. The curry had a depth of flavor that showed the chef’s skill in blending spices and coconut milk perfectly.

### Overall Experience
Bua Thai offers a fantastic dining experience with a great mix of authentic flavors, generous portions, and excellent service. The staff’s friendliness and the spacious upstairs seating made it a comfortable and enjoyable place to eat. Whether you’re a fan of spicy dishes or prefer milder options, the menu caters to a wide range of tastes. The combination of well-crafted cocktails, delicious appetizers, and hearty main courses makes Bua Thai a standout choice for Thai cuisine in the area.

I highly recommend Bua Thai for families, groups, or anyone looking to enjoy a flavorful and authentic Thai meal in a welcoming setting. I’m already looking forward to returning and trying more from their diverse menu!

We were visiting and had a hankering for some Thai food. We found this place as it was close to the hotel we were staying at.

The place itself looks basic- nothing fancy. Furniture seems a bit dated and the place looks dingy. We were seated upstairs.

Our server was a young guy who was very pleasant to deal with. He gave us a run down of their most popular dishes and made recommendations. With it being a very hot day, he was sure to get us iced water frequently.

Food was good; very flavorful. The food had all of the Thai flavors you would expect- basil, fish sauce etc. the one thing that surprised us was the use of jalapeños. It definitely was different but we enjoyed it.

Will return if we are in the area again!

Surprised the reviews aren’t higher. When it comes to ambience, this isn’t a restaurant to take on Valentine’s Day. It doesn’t have a fancy environment nor does it have fancy service. However when it comes to food and price, it’s an easy 5/5. I ordered a pad Thai and it was the best I’ve had in DC by a long shot, and it was cheap. Furthermore, I heard the workers there speaking in Thai with each other, so it’s extremely authentic as well.

I had a wonderful time at this cozy Thai restaurant. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the service was friendly and attentive. We ordered duck curry, spring rolls, and a couple of soups, and each dish was a delightful blend of flavors and textures. The duck curry was rich and spicy, while the spring rolls were crispy and packed with fresh ingredients. The soups were comforting and hearty, perfect for a cool evening. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for an authentic Thai dining experience.

I stopped in with some friends on New Years Eve. We were pleasantly surprised to find them open. I got the Pad Thai to go and it was great! The two workers were very nice and took good care of us. The food was ready in under 10 minutes. I need to go back to try more of their food but so overall far I would recommend.

My wife and I came in town for a quick conference and asked someone for restaurant recommendations. I accidentally put the wrong Thai restaurant in Google Maps and ate here. We had an appetizer and meals. Everything was delicious and service was extremely nice. We’d love to visit again a eat on the patio.

My buddy and I went to this restaurant during our vacation. The Bua Curry Puff tasted really good. I usually get fried rice and an entree but I wanted to do something different and did a noodle dish. The Kao Sol tasted amazing and tasted very flavorful. Overall a great restaurant. I even did more food from here on my last day of vacation.
