The service was great. They include a 16% gratuity on the bill which goes to all servers. You can give more than that which goes directly to your server.
We thought the food was good not great. They had good dairy free options and gluten free as well.
My wife got the chicken biscuits and gravy. She thought. the chicken was pretty good. The bun and gravy were ok. It was super rich (“it was a bit heavy”).
I got the brisket hash. I loved the smokey flavor with the sweet potatoes. It was also pretty rich.
The coffee was super fruity flavored and a little sour. I can’t do lactose so black is my first go to and sugar if necessary. Personal preference here. I like earthy nutty type coffee, but I know the fruity undertones are pretty popular.

Our waitress was great. Friendly, quick, laughed at my jokes, and handled everything smoothly. Zero complaints. If this review were based on her alone, we’d be planning a second date.
Food:
I had the chicken fried steak. Flavor was solid, eggs were cooked perfectly over medium, and the fried potato medley was legit. The breading, however, did not want to commit and slid off the steak like it had somewhere else to be.
My wife ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was cooked perfectly… moist, flavorful, no notes. The waffle had an interesting flavor profile. It tasted fine to me, but the cinnamon came in hot. Less “hint of cinnamon,” more “main character energy.”
Vibe:
Nice spot overall. My wife, who operates at near-elite cleanliness standards, thought it could be cleaner. I thought it was fine. Jury’s out.
Price (aka “The Relationship Red Flag”):
Menu prices were reasonable… honestly, they could’ve even been slightly higher and I wouldn’t have cared.
But here’s the issue.
There’s a mandatory 16% service charge. Yes, it is technically disclosed… buried at the very bottom of the menu, tacked onto the end of a sentence about Washington’s 9% sales tax. Bolded, sure… but not explained, not obvious, and not something most people would catch before paying.
So now we’re at: 9% tax
16% service charge
tip (because most people don’t notice in time)
That’s over 25% extra, and suddenly brunch feels like a pop quiz in math I didn’t study for.
This takes tipping out of the customer’s hands and turns it into forced gratuity. Good service, bad service, amazing food, disappointing food… the charge is coming either way. That just doesn’t sit right with me.
I’m a good tipper. I’m also a fan of transparency. This trend isn’t it, and it’s the kind of thing that makes people rethink eating out altogether.
Final Verdict:
Good service. Good food. Nice space.
But the hidden-feeling surcharge killed the vibe.
So Brunchenette…
we had some good times.
But the trust is gone.
We are broken up at this point.
It’s not me.
It’s definitely you.

Amazing food and service. The shrimp n grits were some of the best I’ve had! Cute vibe! They’ve got an extended list of boozy beverages from their coffee to mimosas! We’ll definitely be back!

This place was so good! Not sure why it took me so long to come here! I got the Passion fruit Mimosa which was DELICIOUS. The Brisket in the Brisket hash fell apart so nicely and I love that their potatoes medley has sweet potatoes as well as regular! I had to get the Bacon sticky bun for some breakfast sweetness and that is all I can think about now The staff were all super sweet and very attentive. Absolutely will be back!

I love everything I’ve tried here at Bruncheonette! A foodie friend of mine, who hails from the Southern USA, says their Shrimp & Grits are fantastic – and that’s saying something coming from a southerner! My last visit I had the Tamale Waffle and it was wonderful. I tend to go with mostly savory dishes here, but often get their Bacon Sticky Bun as a sweet appetizer. They make a limited number of these each day, so don’t be surprised if they run out toward the end of the day. Coffee is wonderful (I really enjoy their French Press Carafe) and I’m told by my friends who drink that their cocktails are very good. All around, one of the best brunch places in the Spokane area.

I seldom write reviews, but today’s experience warranted a review. After mass, my son and I Google searched a place to have breakfast at. This place came up, and I recalled a coworker recommending it around Christmas time, so we decided to go!
The service was quick and friendly! I had the Verde Hash and my son had the Country Fried Steak! Oh-Em-Gee!!! That hash was phenomenal! The medley of different potatoes and the deep flavors in each of the components of this meal were amazing! My son loved his food as well, noting how crispy his chicken was.
When I got the check I was surprised to see that it was quite small! We had enough food to take home and tip included, we paid right at $55! We will definitely be back! One of our new favorite spots! 10/10 recommend.

Hands down our favorite breakfast/brunch spot in Spokane. It’s walk-in only but worth the wait on weekends. Everything we’ve had, including their rotating monthly seasonal items, has been delicious. Plus, great options for vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free diets!

I have NEVER had a bad meal here. It is my go-to restaurant when friends and family visit us and everyone has loved it. The mimosas are so good and such a tasty variety, too. I’ve had their tamale waffle -perfection; brisket hash – delicious; sticky bun – drool worthy; chilaquilles, chicken fried steak… all to die for. The wait can get long because it is SO popular, but holy moly, if you have time and want delicious food, go here! Parking is plentiful.
