This was my 1st visit. I ordered in person at the restaurant. The people were friendly. I was there to try the rib tips, ribs, and turkey tips. They were out of all tips. I arrived a little after 8 and they close at 10. I ordered a ½ slab of ribs ($15)and a chopped steak sandwich ($9.50) for my wife instead. The chopped steak was satisfactory. Tne ribs were a little tough. I don’t mind ribs with a little bite but these were genuinely tough. The ribs (6 ribs) were served mostly seperated but not completely cut through and I still needed a knife to separate them.The flavor wasn’t very smokey at all. It’s obvious that the ribs weren’t cooked long enough to break down the collagen in the meat and the back membrane wasn’t removed or else the meat would have been tender. The mild bbq sauce was very, very sweet. Also could have added more fries with the order. I’m not inspired to go back to try the pork or turkey tips. I hope this review helps Brown’s and Family BBQ get better.

Brown’s & Family BBQ & Soul is located on the southwest side of Chi-town on 87th Street. This restaurant is for take-out only. My mother was desiring some Turkey Tips and she was told this restaurant had the best in the city of Chicago. Who ever told my mother that DID NOT LIE! I’ve eaten turkey tips from a few barbeque spots around the city __ this indeed has been the best. The taste and texture is on point. Excuse me for not taking and posting a picture of the dish before I started eating it. I was actually half way in when I realized I did not capture the entire meal. They give a Lot for the price. If you like Turkey Tips you will not be disappointed. What I really noticed and loved was it’s ALL MEAT and no fat or gristle (at least mine was). My turkey tips came with fries. I will eat there again.

Order a small turkey tip & hot link. Sauce on the side. Turkey hot link was over cook. Turkey tip was dry out meat not fresh; old ]French fries were not fresh. Don’t waste your time or money with people who don’t care about the quality of the food they are serving. Very disappointed

I ordered the pork tips + mini link combo with mixed sauce and mac and cheese. Everything was really good especially the mac and cheese. The sauce was spicy and sweet. I order the cornbread muffin but they didn’t have it, they didn’t refund me, but it was only $0.60.

Omg today was my first time trying Brown’s & Family BBQ & soul. I was greeted & even had the opportunity to taste the Turkey tips. The Turkey tips were tender enough for anyone with dentures or no teeth at all to enjoy the flavorful tips. The crispy fried chicken wings with or with out the sauce is also very good. Each order came with French fries so be sure to ask for crispy fries. This is a take out only spot. No dine in available. It’s small inside. If you’re in a rush don’t bother because good food takes time to prep or cook. You must try them for yourself. You’ll thank me later. I’ll definitely be back soon.

Googled bbq places on the south side besides Lem’s and i57 Smokehouse and came across this new hidden gem. The plus was the restaurant being on Grubhub!! I ordered the turkey tips w/ 3 wings and while the tips were extremely tender and the fries were perfect, I think the chicken was slightly undercooked, nothing the oven couldn’t fixed. I’ll definitely order again, the sauce was really good also!

Whoever y’all grill master/cook is going to tear the quality of y’all business down! The fact that EVERY RIB WAS BURNT and they still decided to sell it is crazy to me! There was no way y’all thought your customer ME was going to be ok with that. That chicken was overcooked and old. I ordered through DoorDash they called me and told me they didn’t have Turkey tips ok cool after maybe 6 min the driver was on his way to me and what’s crazy is the place is about 10 minutes away from me and the food was ICE COLD!!!!!!!! Smh never again

This was my first time supporting this franchise, when I say excellent service and the food was simply delicious!! I ordered tip and link combo, fried chicken wings, spaghetti and greens… I was so pleased the link was like my mom used to fix… Greens wasn’t heavy seasoned, and the spaghetti wasn’t too saucy!!! I’ve been searching for a year for rib tips, and this is probably the best I’ve found. The lady working the counter also appears to do everything herself (cooking, taking calls, cleaning etc), so I’m also impressed with how she manages all of it.
