Still looking for a fantastic burger and found Brown’s Diner.

Ordered the Brown’s Original Cheeseburger with Tots. The burger is lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, and American Cheese. No Duke’s. The burger was really good and had that old school diner flat top flavor. Nothing Fancy, just a really good burger. The Tots were really good as well and they give you a bunch.

They had live music and the bar is loud. Very loud when playing music. The bar area has an alcove you can step into to order which is quieter. I couldn’t hear when ordering at the bar.

The Bar Tender was excellent and understood the hearing issue. His Customer Service Skills were outstanding and professional.

I would definitely return and eat inside as the music was fantastic blue grass. I don’t know who was playing, but loved the music while waiting for my order. Excellent Diner Food.

I heard a friend talking about the history of this place, so I decided to check it out. Overall, the experience was okay. The food was fine, and the hot cheese appetizer felt more like heated frozen food. The flavors were pretty plain and didn’t really stand out.
The live music and the bar area were nice and definitely added to the atmosphere. If you’re going mainly for drinks or music, it’s a good spot, but if you’re visiting specifically for the food and hoping for something memorable, it might be a bit underwhelming.

Just a really nice old school diner with food to complement. Stopped by with a crowd for a late lunch.

Our selections, buffalo chicken wrap, smash burger, wings, brisket Reuben, chicken tenders, and their hash browns were excellen. That brisket Reuben was to die for.

If you live in Nashville, or frequent often, put this place on your list.

Great spot. Friendly staff, interesting clientele, tasty food and drinks.

I love a good local bar and this is a really good one. Great burgers! I had a bacon and blue, with tots, a side wedge, and a couple of $4 PBR and walked with a $34 tab, hard to beat in 2025 $.

No band the Sunday night I was there, but a solid playlist of great music and friendly banter between the staff and regulars. They made me feel right at home too.

Really nice authentic spot in Nashville. Highly recommend for an unpretentious night out.

Finally had the chance to go to Brown’s Diner and it was great! We ordered the Brown’s 1927 Burger, onion rings and a Homestyle Bearded Iris IPA. It was delicious. The ground beef they use is top of the line. I enjoyed all the old photos and decor too. I’ll be back the next time I’m in the area.

Brown’s Diner is one of those places that feels like it has stories soaked into the wood. Open since 1927 and a favorite hangout of John Prine, it carries that classic Nashville soul without trying too hard. You walk in and instantly know you’re somewhere that’s been loved for a long time.

I ordered the burger, and it was exactly what a great diner burger should be: simple, flavorful, and cooked with the kind of confidence that only comes from making it thousands of times. No frills needed. Just really good food done right.

Brown’s is a piece of Nashville history that’s still humming along, keeping the tradition alive one plate at a time. If you like places with character — real character — it’s worth the stop.

A Nashville institution.
Fantastic burgers. Great service. Fun locals at the bar (most of them permanent fixtures)

Amazing place, cramped but with such character and vibe. Messy but excellent smash burger, less messy, as good.
Music? Kinda world class!

We come from the land of diners, otherwise known as New Jersey and we’re excited to try out this place.
It’s a very casual place with both indoor and outdoor seating.
The menu is two pages which should have been a sign right there….
We came in a Monday at 2 pm. Way after the breakfast or lunch crowd. Only two tables seated inside. My husband ordered eggs, sausage and blueberry pancake. I ordered a breakfast burrito. (Not a very complicated order IMO)
They delivered our food bits sans the pancake. They said the pancake would be coming (guess it takes a long time to make pancakes). It didn’t come. The table next to us got our food. Still no pancake. A server (not ours) came to check on us. Said the pancake would be coming when we asked about it.
It did. It was ok.
Not a place I would revisit.

I recently came here for a drink and to check out the place. I grew up in Nashville, but this was my first time here. It was extremely busy, and the house band was so in the zone. I bought a really awesome T-shirt for a Christmas present. Local draft beer selection was not extensive, but it is good. The Jackalope brown ale was tasty. It is hard to move around here on a busy night; I recommend getting a table and ordering food just to be comfortable. The regular bartender is a beast – she is so good at her job. This is not your standard dive bar – it’s family friendly and good for an after-softball game dinner. Be aware of where you’re standing, there are lots of service areas meant for waiters that guests tend to crowd. I would definitely change the service layout of Brown’s if I could. Highly recommend coming here for a meal, a drink, and some good local music. Don’t forget to tip the band.
