A beautiful location at the Fairmont Orchid. Lovely view, we saw a Humpback whale breach while there in February. Sunset views and live music. Food is an Asian Hawaiian fusion. Beautifully presented. Directly next to the pool bar/restaurant. Guests of the hotel are mingling nearby. The night we were there an event across the bay also has music playing.

I spent my birthday night at this amazing place, and I loved it right from the moment we handed our car over to the valet. We were greeted by a stunning view of the property and the house. The hostess welcomed us and gave us a perfect overview of the menu. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere, and our food arrived in a timely manner. Everything I tried was phenomenal. I can honestly say this is the best food I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to many places. This experience truly stands out, and I look forward to coming back for more.

The restaurant is at beach side (hence the name) and has the amazing sunset view. The dishes are delicious and beautiful plated. Service is great, attentive but not overwhelming. The steak is slightly overcooked (we asked for medium rare, it’s just a bit overcooked, still delicious) and they gracefully gave us dessert for free. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Had our anniversary dinner there last night. The atmosphere, weather, tiki torches, music were undeniably GREAT! The waitstaff, while courteous seemed a little overwhelmed, forgetting about our drink order, and leaving fairly large gaps of time without checking on us. The food experience was largely hit and miss. The watermelon Poke bowl (pictured) while seemingly refreshing had an odd mix of flavors that seemed overly acidic when combined. It was alternatively delicious or disappointing depending on the proportion of chip to fruit to other. 3/5. I ordered the lamb chops (chef special, pictured) and this was the highlight of the food. Well prepared (if a bit fatty), good balance, delicious purée – this was 5/5. My wife had the filet, ordered medium rare minus, it came solidly medium rare – not really a problem, but was overly tough for a filet. She did not finish (though I ate the rest of hers because .. well – steak. 4/5. The kids pasta was fine.. noodles with butter and garlic.. 4/5. The tragedy was the kids teriyaki chicken.. literally inedible it was so dry (and I tried) 1/5. We took our daughter to get Panda Express after dinner so she had something to eat. I might have requested something else, but the obvious assumption from the wait staff was that everything was “delicious”
The bread (looks like an overripe avacodo) was actually delicious (pictured).

Had a great time due to the atmosphere and music, but would recommend having an appetizer or two with a drink rather than a full meal.

The food and the staff were as high quality as I could expect. We enjoyed our dinners and the unhurried demeanor of the wait staff. So, why 4 stars for Atmosphere? The hours and reservation policy are less than friendly. We arrived Friday at noon and within two hours we tried to make a reservation for any night while we stayed at the resort. We were told there was no availability and the earliest table we could reserve would be the following weekend. We checked with the concierge in the hotel and were told that there had been a cancellation and that they could get us in at 8:15 on Saturday night. Wonderful. We arrived at 8:10 and noticed that more than half of the tables were empty. We were given a wonderful seat overlooking the lawn, where a musician was playing quietly. It was really quite nice looking out at the ocean with the music. But by the time we did order drinks and they arrived, we noticed there were even more empty tables, and it became clear as the evening went on. We were the last group seated for the night and that most people were finishing their dinners. The music concluded as our appetizers were served. And as we move through the meal at about $200 a person realized we were the only people left in the restaurant. As I said earlier, the staff were great. There was no hurry, but there was a sense that the staff in the background were ready to end the evening. I don’t understand how a restaurant that doesn’t open until five only takes three hours worth of reservations. I appreciate they fit us in and the food was amazing. I just thought the atmosphere of being the only table left being served, looking out to a lawn where the musician packed up and went home distracted from the atmosphere.

We came here for our anniversary dinner and loved the experience, especially getting to watch a beautiful sunset while dining. The service was excellent, and we really enjoyed the fries they were super tasty. The watermelon poke bowl was refreshing and a nice surprise. Dessert was just okay, and for the main course we had to request a custom vegetable fried rice since the vegetarian entrée options were limited. Overall, a memorable evening with great service and a stunning view, though we’d love to see more vegetarian choices on the menu.

Amazing experience! They have a separate vegan menu with well planned out options. We were celebrating our anniversary and our server Tremaine even ensured the kitchen made us a vegan option for our complimentary desert. 10/10 would return and recommend to everyone. Time your visit so you can watch the sunset from your table.

First off, the atmosphere is 2nd to none. The beauty of the sunset over the ocean while drinking a citrus cocktail was surreal. The service was fantastic. Everyone was attentive and incredibly kind. We ordered the dry aged Ribeye (medium rare), and the lobster rice. The ribeye was char crusted which made it crunchy on the outside. I feel that this took away from the dry aging. Dry aged meat usually melts in your mouth. This was overcooked and kind of tasted burnt on the outside. The mashed potatoes that came with it were cold. The lobster fried rice tasted like the lobster mixed with white fish out of a bag. The sweet potatoe rolls and butter were fantastic! That was one of the most amazing parts of the meal! We spent around $200 and felt that the food was a little under whelming. However, we would come back for the atmosphere and to try something different.

We always save a night for this place. Well worth the drive from Kailua-Kona. Food is special occasion worthy.
Lovely tables just feet from the beach, set on a green meadow. The service is attentive. My ribeye was scrumptious. Hubby ate all his mahi and then helped with my 12 oz steak. Mushrooms and mashed potatoes round out the plate. The scallops appetizer was so yummy! The tiny mushrooms and asparagus and sauce complemented the seared delicious circles.
Tiramisu and crème were our chosen desserts.
I missed taking a photo of the mains, sorry! There was a bit of kerfluffle because it rained and we had to move.
