Thick, homemade bread! Fluffy, seasoned omelets! Potatoes with a soft inside and slight crunch to the outside! It was here that I sated my desire for a fine NEK breakfast! Of the three breakfast places I visited on my last trip to Vermont, Brown Cow was definitely the best. (I’ve been hurting with the closure of Miss Lyndonville Diner, and on the lookout for a new breakfast spot in the NEK to look forward to. Brown Cow will now fill that void.)
Brown Cow was busy when we arrived Saturday morning but there was no wait at the door. I came with a friend and we sat at the counter, both to not rob a table from a larger group and to see the action of the cooking experience!
We both ordered coffees and waters, and I opted for a special omelet of the morning (with steak, cheese, peppers and onions) while my friend ordered a veggie omelet. We were both happy with our choices. It was fun to watch the cooking, which though a little confined for two people, seemed to work really well. It was here that I heard a refreshing sound – when my food was about to be plated – they scooped some potatoes off the hot cooking surface. There was this almost crackling noise, as the potatoes were pried from the surface, I knew right then and there – that these were going to be good!
The omelets were perfect, the bread was excellent and the potatoes were very good. There was even the prospect of a slice of pie to follow, but genuinely, I was very content with the meal. I highly recommend Brown Cow and hope to enjoy breakfast here many times in the future.

Stopped in Friday morning and was able to get a table for two right away.
We had an order of the deep fried French toast – added blueberries. Wow oh wow it was amazing!!!

We also ordered the cow plop – I got toast instead of a biscuit. The bread is homemade so I enjoyed the toast. The cow plop was ok I probably wouldn’t order it again. But overall food was delicious and fresh and fast. High recommend a stop in!

Not that many breakfast places around here but this is a good one. Prices are reasonable and the food is decent. The service is super friendly as well.

Blueberry pancakes are pretty good, lots of fruit. Omelettes and meat options are acceptable as well. They have a huge rotating pie list that looks really good.

My boyfriend and I stopped before we headed back to PA, and it was wonderful! The service was EXCELLENT and friendly, and the food was great. We loved the pancakes, both regular and chocolate chip, and the cow bowl! We also bought two of their Brown Cow shirts, which are high quality and embroidered! Great prices and a decent amount of parking. You may need to be prepared for a wait, especially if it is a weekend morning!

This little country restaurant is bustling with delicious fresh, scratch-made food served to wise locals who get there early. We stopped in on a Sunday just in time. Nice full menu, good hot coffee, great service despite the tables all full and a 10 minute wait. Big tasty portions. Snag a fresh loaf of bread on your way out. Parking lot or on the street. Again, get there early or expect to wait. Mostly small tables and some counter seats. Clean bathroom, sweet cow theme decor, of course.

Cozy little breakfast spot. Very small number of tables, so it fills up quick. The staff are friendly and the food is good. Prices aren’t too bad either.

Update: I find myself coming back here every time I visit. It’s just such a cozy and authentic place with good genuine people. I highly recommend this place. I’ve never had a bad experience here.

This was a great find on our visit. The staff is so friendly and attentive. You can not miss the French toast with homemade bread. It was eaten so fast we didn’t get a pic!!! Really enjoyed my brown cow bowl!

Really good food and pretty reasonable prices too. Honestly they’re so successful that they should expand. Every time I’ve been here there’s been nowhere to sit. Even at 7am on a Tuesday. Which is great for them don’t get me wrong. But they could be doing so much more business if they had the capacity to take that business. I understand they’re limited as to what they can do right in the middle of east main Street but if they moved somewhere bigger they would be making bank. I’d certainly go there more often.
