she was clearly incredibly busy and still managed to find the time to make my son feel special. we will 100% be requesting lexi’s section everytime we come in from here on out, as per request of my both my children also.
Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, Twisted Tea on tap? Genius! It’s refreshing, flavorful, and having it straight from the tap was a game-changer. I’ll definitely be back for that alone.
The atmosphere was lively and inviting, perfect for catching up with friends or just unwinding after a long day. The service was also prompt and friendly, which always makes a difference.
What really impressed us, though, was how welcoming they were to our group. We were in town with a visiting team for a hockey game, and even though we weren’t supporting the local team, the staff and other patrons were incredibly friendly and accepting. It’s not always easy to find a bar that’s so inclusive, and we really appreciated that.
Overall, Brothers Bar & Grill is a solid choice for a casual night out. Whether you’re looking for a place to play shuffleboard, enjoy a refreshing drink, or just soak up a fun and inclusive atmosphere, you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommended! Go GREEN!
I was part of the original opening FOH team at Brothers Bar & Grill back when they opened their south bend location and worked there for years as a hostess and server. I live in Chicago now but Brothers has always held a piece of my heart and I stop in a few times a year when I visit SB. It is sad to see how their standards have slipped.
Victoria the bartender does not belong in hospitality. She cares more about her phone and socializing with staff than doing her job. There were about 8 people at the bar and maybe 5 tables when I visited, it was NOT busy.
She didn’t acknowledge us for about 8+ minutes. It looked like shift change so I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. I feel like menus could have at least been dropped… However we sat there and sat there because I told my BF the food would be worth it… it was getting really frustrating though and we almost got up at to walk down to O’Rourkes (which we would have if we had known how bad our experience was about to be)
We watched Victoria sitting on her phone and visiting the line to talk to servers for awhile. So by the time we got to order anything we had already been sitting at the bar for about 15 minutes.
I watched a server deliver our food behind the bar but because Victoria was socializing with the host and sitting on her phone she didn’t see it. We waited for her to notice but I eventually had to get up out of my seat to ask her to grab our food which instantly irritated her. She dropped it off without saying a word and didn’t check on us or speak to us again for the rest of our visit.
If she had checked on us we could have let her know that 2 out of 3 of our items were cold. I also would have liked to order a second beer but that’s hard to do when the bartender doesn’t acknowledge your existence (we were not given waters so once our initial drinks were empty we had to eat our food with zero beverages)
After being ignored for so long, I finally gave up and put my card on the bar to indicate we were ready to leave and she picked it up with a nasty attitude, swiped it, and put it back on the bar then walked away without saying a word to us.
I have been a bartender for 10 years and was appalled by the service we received from Victoria. You can’t have people like her in hospitality because a sense of urgency and a polite personality are necessities- she had neither.
This is my first ever, and most likely only, negative review I’ve posted about a fellow service industry person.
I probably won’t return for awhile (unless Ryan B is bartending) which is unfortunate because the spicy garlic wings are incredible and I look forward to them every time I visit South Bend.
