My daughter ordered a hot link, 1/3 pound of pulled pork (you have to ask for sliced bread with it) and a sweet potato. She also got the smoked brisket elote (she didn’t think this was that good) but she enjoyed the sausage link and the pulled pork. Now, I mentioned I’m from the south. So, I was a little disappointed they didn’t have Sweet Tea. But Corie threw me together a mixture of the sweet tea and the peach tea, I added in a Splenda, and it was just right! They also have a wide variety of beers and cocktails. They had live music that night (Friday) but they were setting up as we were leaving, so I didn’t get to hear it. Maybe next time!
Glad we have a good place to go for BBQ thanks for working so hard!
Unfortunately, it didn’t come to our attention until far too late that there “has always been” a caveat to this rule: everyone is required to order food for the discount to be applied to their drinks (no sharing food, it seems). This rule had never been the case the past few years, but the manager claimed it always existed and that apparently they had “unknowingly” been “giving away” beers to folks who just wanted drinks for the exact price they had been offering…. for years? The deal has never had any disclaimers, fine print, or otherwise to have suggested this on their website though. It seemed like a dishonest way to undermine their own advertisement to get more money.
I would understand if the deal needed to change or simply go away. Regardless, it was most upsetting that we were not made aware of the new enforcement until AFTER our second round of drinks and just two baskets of fries. By that point we were full on sharing the fries, and I’m not the biggest fan of the food in all honestly. I felt frantic trying to search for the cheapest, smallest item on their menu, only to just sigh in defeat and bite the bullet on the bill.
This will unfortunately be the last time we come in. I suppose we prolonged the inevitable, but I’ll fondly look back at how the place used to be.
It’s really frustrating to go from an amazing first visit to such a poor second one. I truly hope this was just an off night, because I know theyve done much better. I expected much better!! What a disappointment!
Service was great too! Our wait person explained everything to us and made it very easy!! We plan to bring family when they come to visit! We are from northern AZ.
The atmosphere is nice, and I think it would be really fun to attend on the nights they have music. The private room we used was very nice and easily accommodated us (I think about 70 people). Because it was buffet style, I had very little interaction with the servers other than trying to get the plates cleared.
The meats I tried (brisket and smoked chicken) were good, the mac and cheese was excellent, and the cornbread was very good. I’m not sure if collard greens are something on their regular menu, but they definitely left something to be desired (flavor and texture) and seemed like they were most likely straight out of a can.
There were two plastic bottles of BBQ sauce at each table. The signature BBQ sauce was meh, not bad but not anything I’d ever guess was a “signature” sauce. No one at my table cared for the Kansas sweet one. There was 1 bottle of hot sauce on the buffet for the entire room. The lemonade was fine, tasted like any generic fountain or powdered lemonade. I think ice in the glasses would have been nice. The beignets were good, and I enjoyed the bourbon chocolate sauce with them.
Bottom line: Overall, it was pretty good. If you’re coming for a tasty dinner or a fun night out when there’s music, I think this would be a good choice. If you’re looking for a private dining area for a catered event, I think this would be a good choice. If you’re from anywhere other than Tucson and craving barbeque, this is probably not going to be one of your top options.
