Broken Yolk in Carlsbad is a great place for breakfast and brunch. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere is clean and family-friendly. We enjoyed everything we ordered, and the staff was generally welcoming.
The only issue we had was with one of our orders. The server asked us how we wanted the side, but later we realized it was actually a mistake on her part — she was new and still learning. We understand these things happen, but we were still charged for the extra item, which could have been handled a bit better. It wasn’t a big deal, but a simple adjustment would have made the experience perfect.
Overall, we still recommend Broken Yolk Café. The food and service are good.

I found this place online. I’m a huge fan of Eggs Benedict and they has the option to try 2 different kinds. I got the Traditional and Chicken and Waffle Benedicts. Both were amazing. My wife got their Nutella crepes which were great too. We got some cinnamon rolls pancakes to take home with us too. The pancakes might have been our favorite item we ordered. Our waiter Carlos was great too and even helps us save a little bit of money.

It had been a long time that my partner and I had gone to the Broken Yolk. We remembered good service and tasty food. We visited on a Saturday morning about a month ago. They were slammed and told us the kitchen was shut down until they could catch up. We patiently waited but when we finally got our breakfast croissant sandwiches I was shocked at the fake croissant it was served on. It was thin, whispy, stale bun looking concoction. It did not resemble a croissant at all. Our food was served cold, we were so hungry from waiting so long. Both of us said never again when departing. I also got up and got my partner a fresh cup of coffee from the server inside, his coffee was served cold. For the prices you charge you need to serve real croissants.

A very nice first-time visit. We arrived right at 9 and were seated immediately. The restaurant has a clean, airy feel to it. There is an outdoor dining option, but it was a bit cool this morning, so the inside seating was the best route.
Carlos took exceptional care of us. When we’re ready, he’s ready. My wife had the “Choose two” Benedict with the classic and Golden Gate being her choices. I had the breakfast sandwich with home fries. We had coffee and split a large OJ.
Everything came out quickly and looked great, although my croissant did look like it had been smushed in a press. The home fries could have used some seasoning. Otherwise, everything tasted very good. The OJ was fantastic. Service was exceptional. My coffee was never less than half full. Prices for the local Carlsbad area are a bargain. Enjoy!

We have been coming to this restaurant consistently for over a year. Our favorite servers are Carlos and Andrea. We enjoy a variety of breakfast choices. We like the American breakfast, the MOM omelette, French toast and pancakes. Everything we order is tasty and has a nice presentation. Thanks for many good experiences over the years.

Carlos, and the rest of the staff are very courteous and attentive. I’ve come in a few times now in the morning and Carlos already has a sense of what I want, confirms my order and gets it going. The food is very good and arrives quickly, I like to spend some time enjoying my meal and thinking about my day. Carlos and the staff ensure I have coffee and no rush to to leave, a great way to start my day!

I really enjoyed being able to come in and have my order taken right away. Being able to pay the bill before I’m done eating is also awesome because it means I can be ready to head to work when I’m done with my meal instead of waiting on service. The steak and eggs has been a favorite lately, but the Sopes Benedict, feta avocado toast and Nutella crepes are other massive favorites.
