Our first time there and it was incredible. The chef, who is also the food truck server, went above and beyond. First, he explained the whole menu, gave us recs and even lets us try the different meats. We ended up choosing the two pork options and they were soooo good! Super flavorful, tender and with a smoky aftertaste He even came to check on us multiple times! Will go again soon

Genuinely such a good experience! From guidance when ordering, to getting the food! I didn’t get to take a picture of the food because everything was just so amazing I ordered the Saigon Street BBQ Pork, Smoky Ginger Chicken, Vegan Crispy Rolls, and for dessert the Vanilla Custard Creampuffs. 10/10 recommend! Can’t wait to go back

Overall: 3.7/5 [takeout]
We ordered online for takeout around lunchtime. There was no line, and the food was ready when we arrived so pickup was seamless.
Signature Lemongrass Pork Bowl ($17): The bowl was pretty small for the price, but it tasted authentic. I liked the egg quiche, the use of actual broken rice, and the nuoc mam. The lemongrass pork, however, was not as good as the BBQ pork. It was a bit dry, and the lemongrass flavor did not really come through.
“Broken” Tater Tots ($9): Tots with scallion oil, house-pickled daikon and carrots, topped with Saigon mayo and signature BBQ sauce. We chose BBQ pork as our protein. This was delicious and far better than the rice bowl. The tater tots were still crispy enough by the time we got home, so we did not need to air fry them again.
Side of Grilled Meat ($5): We asked for the smoky ginger chicken so we could try all of the meats. The chicken did not look charred or flame grilled; it was actually quite wet, though still tender.

Will definitely come back! Got the egg rolls, lemongrass pork, and ginger chicken. Love that you can customize your heat level for the fish sauce with the chili paste on the side.

Killer flavor? CHECK.
Passionate owner? CHECK.
Chill atmosphere? YUP.
Stop by if you dig good Vietnamese eats. The owner, Bao, is friendly and enjoyed sharing his experience (former head sushi chef at a popular Austin restaurant).
The truck is in a park that features global cuisine, so there’s plenty to choose from.
We had the broken rice lemongrass bowl and loaded bbq tater tot’s.
The bowl came with several sauces and you can control the spice (we went all in on the chili sauce).
Thanks, Bao!

The broken rice was really good, and I’m judging from a Vietnamese’s standard. It’s not easy to find properly cooked broken rice even in Vietnam, and they nailed it here. So happy to have cơm tấm in the neighborhood!

Chef Bao has nailed it. I ordered the Saigon Street Bbq Pork with vermicelli noodles, Saigon Crispy Rolls, and a Vietnamese coffee. The coffee is balanced. It’s just sweet enough to enjoy all the flavors in the cup and is just SO easy to drink. The egg rolls were served hot and crispy, and the dipping sauce is sensational. It’s just fishy enough to identify the Asian flavor but like the coffee, is balanced. No one flavor dominates another and compliments the rolls very well. And the main event??? Ugh…everything is clearly super fresh. The pork is fatty, fall apart bites that are jam packed with flavor. The noodles are cooked to perfection, not mushy and not undercooked. And after throwing in all the side bits that come with it, I ended up with a meal I won’t forget anytime soon. I will be back here alllllll the time!

As a Vietnamese person, I’m pretty picky when it comes to Vietnamese food — and Broken Rice Austin gets my full approval. The flavors are authentic, comforting, and clearly made with care. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious, but the egg quiches and the broken tater tots are absolute standouts — so flavorful and addictive. You can really taste the quality and thought put into the food. Highly recommend if you’re looking for real Vietnamese flavors with a creative twist.
