On October 10, 2025 we hosted a rehearsal dinner for 80 people at this restaurant. There are no words to describe the amazing service from Amaloi Crossman and her wonderful staff. Everyone was so professional, accommodating and friendly to our guests. The bar staff was perfect and the chef cooked each meal to perfection, and every meal was hot when delivered. Knowing how important this event was to us, Amaloi decorated the venue to match the bride’s wedding colors and it was gorgeous! All of our guests commented on how wonderful the evening was. If you are looking for amazing food while in Corolla or hosting a special event that you know will be done the way you want it to be, look no further than the Broken Plate. We made reservations for a party of 8 at 5:00 and were seated immediately. The server was friendly and took good care of us. The food was great. We ordered the Blackened Snapper, Jerk Salmon, and Scallop appetizer (all pictured) and kids pasta (not pictured). Everyone loved their meal. The snapper was very well portioned and moist on the inside. The salmon was moist and had a good jerk flavor and the glaze was sweet smokey and spicy. They were able to do 2 checks for our party, and the family we were with ordered the shrimp and grits and a Caesar salad with Chicken (along with some other kids meals). Overall we liked this place and would come back during out next trip to the OBX. One thing that did strike me as odd however, is they charge a 3% credit card processing fee. I didn’t know about this fee when we arrived or prior to making reservations, but nor was I looking for that as it seems odd to charge anymore since so many places are cashless or don’t charge fees. To me, this is a cost of doing business.

The food was delicious and they were getting busy pretty quickly even in an off season. Very near and clean. Our server was wonderful, very attentive, and overall service was very good, other than a minor issue with a couple of ingredients missing off my spouse’s sandwich, but it was addressed and taken care of immediately. Best she-crab soup I’ve had, and my fish and chips entree was perfection, though not in a typical presentation. The batter was so good. Chicken tenders were delicious too!

We absolutely loved our experience at The Broken Plate! Kevin provided an excellent service experience. The drinks were on point. We had the espresso martini and the rum punch. The she crab soup of the day was delicious The fish and chips was cooked really well. The scallops were perfection! The dark chocolate mousse cake was devine. Everything from atmosphere to service to food was exceptional. We will absolutely be back!

Breakfast was delicious and there were some great options for vegetarians that weren’t your typical (boring) breakfast fare. We had the Tacos, Market Hash and Chocolate Chip Pancakes – all were awesome. It’s located on the second floor above an arcade and there was no wait when we got there mid morning. Service was good as well. The place had a Jamaican flair. Would go here again!

OBX 2025. We stopped for a quick breakfast after a long night out, and it was just good. There was nothing to complain about, but it wasn’t “anything special”. The interior was well appointed, and the bar was well stocked and very modern. The dinner experience may be better, but the breakfast fare should be avoided.

What a pleasant surprise when you walk in! Being situated above an arcade, you are literally taken aback when you enter and see how chic and elegant this atmosphere inside is.
Very tentative staff. Food was AMAZING for price, quality and quantity.
I can highly recommend the calamari, as well as the herbed chicken. The French fries were also superb.
While the menu disclosed there’s not substitutes to maintain the integrity of each dish, we had an allergy that required a substitute and they had no issues with replacing the items.
Everyone in our party was over the moon we came here and we all left with happy belly’s and big smiles on our faces from our meal and time spent there!

4/25/25 – It’s a very nice place. Our server was great! I did feel the pricing is a little bit expensive. The food was great though. I got the soup of the day and the cranberry salad (don’t remember the exact name). My husband got chicken tenders, fries, and Mac & Cheese. Our other friend got the kids menu chicken tenders and it’s almost the same dish as the adult but it has one less tender. Our other friend got the t-bone steak, which he really enjoyed. Our other friend got the catch of the day, and he really enjoyed it too. The atmosphere is nice and fancy too. Would enjoy to come back.

First timer here—we went for lunch during our vacation. No wait, and the food was excellent. The soup of the day was she-crab soup, and it was delicious with plenty of lump crabmeat. My mother ordered the fish tacos, and I got the crab cake sandwich. I liked that I could get it either fried or grilled. Despite being busy, the noise level was not overwhelming, and it wasn’t so loud that we couldn’t carry on a conversation.
