so this is a tough one. my girlfriend and i decided to try this prime rib place 2 hours away from where we live excited on valentine’s day. my experience was pretty great, i got the select cut of the new york steak with creamed spinach and a loaded baked potato. everything was really solid except for the baked potato it was a little cold and the toppings weren’t the highest of quality but i didn’t mind. salad was AMAZING with a creamy horseradish dressing i believe. my girlfriend’s experience on the other hand wasn’t great. she got the broadway cut of prime rib with creamed corn and mashed potatoes. her prime rib was grey color not cooked to her liking and the mashed potatoes were very runny. they did bring another plate of mashed potatoes after they realized they accidentally put gravy on the first batch. however she ended up getting sick the night of and had terrible stomach pains. personally this experience for me was great except for the service. i understand it was a busy day and expected to be busy, but considering its reservation only and the people next to us got in and out faster than us when we got sat first is a little upsetting. luckily they did offer us a refund or free dinner when we called to let them know our experience so i’m not THAT upset at it. overall, pretty good food and could tell they were really trying hard. don’t be afraid to try this place on a normal weekday or non holiday.

My brother wanted to eat meat. It was his birthday. So we decided to come to this location since we haven’t been here for a long time. Our go to location for bringing family from out of town. We ordered: the broadway cut prime rib , and it came with its house salad ( the dressing was a little bit salty for my taste), with cream of corn and mash potatoes. The meat was good and the sides too , but the popover was not fluffy enough. But otherwise ok. The service was good. For drinks: we ordered a glass of Malbec. Mother ordered the salmon with mango salsa. She said it was not dry so that is good. We will definitely come back but I definitely would rather go to my favorite San Mateo prime or house of prime rib first if I had to choose.

Ate here years ago and price was reasonable and cuts were larger. Now it’s a little pricier as noted on menu and meats not as large as it used to be. Sides were good. Half spinach and corn . The popover and house salad was just average. The meat is medium rare as per requested and tasted good and tender. Service was great. We ate at 5:30p and beat the dinner rush. As we left the place it was almost full. Once in a while, you just need to treat yourself to a good meal.

Depending on your luck, Broadway Prime could be hit or miss. This time, the prime ribs were flavorful, moist on the inside, not fatty and tasted even better on the drier outer edges. Those of us that had the prime rib was happy with their meals. The person that had the dry aged NY steak said it was overcooked and only ate 1/2 of it. Service was excellent.

My first impression was that the place was a little worn down, I’m not sure how old the building is but a lot of the wood was worn down. They sat us upstairs but they did ask if it was ok to sit upstairs. The table they sat us was very small for 4 people. After we sat we waited for at least 20 minutes or more before someone came to get our order. The table next to us who sat down after us got served before us. After we order the pace of service picked up I ordered myself an old fashion. I have to say I was not impressed with the drink it tasted off not like a traditional old fashion and the cup they put it in was very small. When the food came out I have to say I did enjoy the garlic mashed potatoes it had real clove of garlic in it which I love. The cream of spinach was also good. I didn’t care for the Pop over muffin that came with it. Mine tasted like it wasn’t done cooking. The prime rib itself was good i love it with the hot horseradish they give you. Overall it’s had good flavor but for about the same price you could get the same prime rib dinner at the house of prime rib in San Francisco. You don’t get the experience or the atmosphere that the house of prime rib delivers. Overall I’d come again but I’d prefer to go to the house of prime rib if I’m eating prime rib again.

So it’s a special occasion, my bestie came to visit us from Asia. He loves prime rib so much. We decide to go broadway prime to show off how good it is. And sadly it was really awful experience we had at that night.
First we order three orders of prime ribs all medium rare. We also ordered a ginger ale. The ginger ale came and the waiter said it looked weird and asked my husband to try it. It turned out to be club soda. My husband changed his order to a Sprite. This time it came with tiny bits of black spec in the glass. The waiter brushed it off and said it was coffee grind as if that was acceptable. Then my friend from Asia got his prime rib. The prime rib was basically rare. It was hard to cut with a steak knife and it bled. It was completely different temperature from the two other steaks we have at the table. We told the waiter and the waiter said he’ll put it on the grill. Wouldn’t that change the whole point of a prime rib? He said very fast, a few second will be ok. He basically convinced us that grilling a prime rib is ok. It came back like a well done steak with grill marks. That was again unacceptable and we sent it back. We got another order of the prime rib and it was cooked to medium, ok whatever. But then we ordered the Broadway cut which was supposed to be thick and this new steak was cut about half the thickness and just tasted old and about to go in the trash if not served tonight. It probably should have gone to the trash a few nights ago. Steaks aside, the cream corn and spinach all tasted spoiled and sour. They tasted like they’ve been sitting under the heat overnight, nowhere close to being fresh. The garlic on top of the garlic mashed basically looked rotten. The popover is burnt and super dry. Btw the male waiter’s fingernail is longer than Cardi B okurrr. The only good thing was the baked potato, and that’s it. After that the waiter felt bad and gave us a bottle of red wine but we just left it at the table because we can’t be bribed. Please think again if you want to go there, I think they changed owners because a few years ago broadway prime tasted good.

Old school steakhouse that focuses more on flavor and large portions than variety or top quality cuts. If you’re thinking Ruth’s Chris or even Texas Roadhouse you’re barking up the wrong tree. This is more like a diner steak, but executed very well. Your choices are prime rib or NY strip with a short list of sides (price includes salad, potato, and one vegetable). There might have been some kind of fish or mushroom option but no one is ordering it. NY Steak was large, cut about 1/2 inch thick, cooked properly, and smothered in peppercorn sauce. Prime rib was enormous. Prices were highish but fair for the portion and quality. Decor is dated but that’s part of the charm. If you want to fuss over marbling and boutique cuts go somewhere else, but if you know what you’re getting into this can be a great dining experience.

I completely see what Broadway Prime is going for – a hearty NY-style prime rib joint that isn’t haughty and fills you up with tasty meat. And to their credit, they do get a lot of this right. The atmosphere is very NY-like, as well as the simplified menu that really focuses on the prime rib and NY steak set. The service was also friendly. And I was really forward to having a great meal on a late Sunday evening while it was raining outside.

The issue is the food. First, because the salad is standard, they pre-make it in batches. And this makes the vegetable soggy. The prime rib is tender and juicy, but some how the au jus on our day was bland. The meat was great. But the entire dish had no attitude. I wish they had given it more flavor profile rather than relying on horse radish butter to add. The NY steak for more disappointing as the steak was tougher than expected. Sides were good such as mashed potatoes and cream corn though.

At $61 for a prime rib dinner including salad, a large cut of meat, and 2 sides, I guess it is a fair deal. But given it is indeed a higher-end meal, one would expect something more flavorful. It absolutely is a hearty meal for sure. But would I repeat it for $61? That’s where I hesitate.

Broadway Prime is perhaps a decent date spot. Maybe a decent family eatery? A business meal location…? It’s difficult cause I’m not sure if it gets any of it right because it doesn’t blow your mind with the prime rib. The meal was good. But just not worth the trip to Burlingame and the price.
