Small town flavor meets big city taste. Visited this restaurant in a beautiful Petersburg historic building at the recommendation from a friend. Well, worth the trip.
From the crab cake appetizer, soup, Beet salad, primavera and halibut every bite was delicious! Our server EVYN was Outstanding! Great personality and made sure that we were well cared for and satisfied with our meal. We will definitely be back to enjoy this small town and this restaurant’s great food and service!

My husband and I attended the Winter Solstice December 14th coming in from Springfield. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience! The building is so beautiful. The event was very well run. We loved all of the heavy hors d’oeuvures and desserts (my husband kept going back for the cream puffs) and walking around exploring the building. We are a middle-aged couple and especially appreciated the fact that the music on the dancefloor was not blaringly obnoxiously loud. People had such a good time and were dressed in such fancy attire. We are so glad to have found this wonderful spot and will definitely be coming back up here for future events.

The food was fantastic! A great place to go for an upscale feel in our area. The building and atmosphere were really cool. Cocktails, appetizers, meals, and dessert were all impressive and well worth the price. We came for a special night and we will be back in the future!

Hidden gem! I happened upon this restaurant while I was driving through town and I’d say it would be worth the hour and a half drive to go again! The service was top notch – friendly & prompt even though it seemed very busy. All the food was excellent & high quality ingredients. I even ordered dessert which was well worth it. Lovely atmosphere in their beautifully renovated historic location.

Place has an amazing night time dining vibe. Great for date night or for small groups. Chop was great and sides including the broccoli were tasty. The gentleman’s rib eye next to me with baked potato and side veggie looked imposing in a good way.
Now that’s not all they’ve got going on. Just switched the brunch menu for Sunday and they’ve got the Talisman Cafe for baked goods, coffee and lunch. Oh and they’ll have private events in the upstairs area coming as well.
There’s nothing like it in the surrounding area as far as venue and food but the best is yet to come. This is the must go to for anyone in 2022.
Btw I don’t work for Broadgauge but I did stay at the Riverbank Lodge last night. Ha!

My first time here tonight and it was AMAZING! Our server Parker was absolutely fantastic! He was very attentive and so friendly. I can honestly say I do not have a SINGLE complaint. We both got the New York strip with mashed potatoes and greens. It was the best steak I have ever tasted at a restaurant. Our original reservations were for outside but they accommodated us by finding us a table inside due to the heat which was honestly amazing of them. We will absolutely be back as it was worth EVERY PENNY! Thank you Broadgauge for an amazing anniversary dinner. ❤️

The food was just ok. We went for lunch and didn’t see anything above average for their lunch selection. Of course this was our first time here and expected great sandwich options like their old spot (Long Nine) in Springfield. The building and space was beautiful, but the food was a little off.

Let’s begin on the absolutely beautiful renovation. You walked into the place and 1st impressions are wow, this place is amazingly beautiful. This is a major development for Petersburg bring what has the feeling up of very upscale venue. It provokes the feeling of comfort and relaxation. The photos are just a sample of the atmosphere presented. Having spent several years in Chicago and enjoying numerous restaurants there I appreciate places like this in Central IL. Its a new place so I’m sure it adapt to the process and become a destination you truly enjoy.

I usually do not write reviews, but felt compelled to write this one because I want the restaurant to succeed as a destination venue. The concept is wonderful and the building does not disappoint at all. The people involved have beautifully restored the charm and elegance of the Broad Gauge building. The décor is lovely. I realize we went on the second night the restaurant was open and that likely has a lot to do with why I am giving the experience a 2/5. I am trying to be honest, but fair.
Food: I was so disappointed. I left the restaurant not even full. Much of the menu was not available due to running out of product (which again, I can understand because of the grand opening). We ordered both appetizers and the staff completely FORGOT about them. We waited an hour or so to eat only entree’s. I had to remind the waitress as she was bringing our entree’s and she herself did not realize we never got the appetizers. The salad and soup came AFTER the entree’s were given. I had to ask the waitress to bring them. The salad was not as advertised on the menu due to being out of product. My scallops and the rest of the plate were tasty, however the food was not warm at all. It clearly had sat (not even under a warmer) at the kitchen for a bit before it was brought out. Cold scallops are not good. The cocktails were very nice, however. No complaints regarding the cocktails.
Service: Our waitress looked so stressed out and overwhelmed (which again, I realize, second night). It was not pleasant. I had to ask for my cocktails, my salad, and she completely forgot about two appetizers. Another waiter attempted to give us an appetizer courtesy of the chef, but we told him we were waiting for the two we had ordered so we said to give it to another table. He started to put it down, then took it to the table next to us. His attitude was like he was inconvenienced. It was rude. The service was not good.
Atmosphere: Beautiful. They renovated and decorated this place so well. It is stunning.
I am hoping by giving some honest feedback, the quality of the food and service will improve. I definitely would recommend coming to this restaurant, but perhaps in several months when some of these kinks have been worked out. $200 (total of 4 people) for cold scallops, poor service, and a lack of food/forgetting food is just not worth it, particularly since it was a drive just to get to the location.

Wow! We were guided here by staff at our stop in New Salem. If you are seeking a dining experience with great food & service in a beautifully restored historical buildings put The Broadgauge at the top of your list. We had the Smash Burger, BBQ Pork sandwich, and the Douglas St Dip along with their cole slaw & homemade chips. All were prepared to perfection! We were able to enjoy walking through the building to learn about the restoration and then sit in the lounge area in the front of the building.
