We’re only in the area once or twice a year, but this has been on the list for a while. We’re so glad we went!!! We went within a half hour of opening because we were on a time constraint and we heard so many great things that we wanted to take our time. Unfortunately the menu was down (online only) for the first 30 min but the knowledgeable staff quickly helped us find exactly what we wanted to drink (a top shelf whiskey and a glass of red wine). The menu issue was resolved in short order and we order food— bar olives, meatballs, baked Brie, vegetable flat bread and the steak. The bar olives were yummy! The meatballs were perfect- moist but meaty in a fresh, no frills tomato sauce. Exactly what you want to highlight the meat ball. The baked Brie was perfect but then that’s my favorite cheese, soooo no complaints… I didn’t get a taste of the flat bread so you know it must be good and the steak was so delicious I almost didn’t share despite all my promises to and my stomach was so full from all the other food! We will definitely be returning when we’re back in the area! Thank you, Brix Bistro!!!

I was in town for work, checked Google Maps for local spots, and Brix Bistro did not disappoint. Sat at the bar, and Peter took great care of me. I asked if he could make a mojito, and it was great. Peter recommended the cauliflower appetizer, which was a tasty alternative to the usual fried appetizers. He also suggested the salami and blue cheese paired with the Barbera. Everything was yummy and Peter is a great conversationalist. You should definitely check this place out if you’re in town or driving through. Cheers!

I have reviewed before and I’ll do it again. Peter curates an incredible experience in this small, lovely restaurant. The food is always good, and yet every time I try something new I am pleasantly surprised to find it delicious, interesting, and carefully made. Hats off to the chef, Matt, once again for an excellent experience last night.

The scallop po’ boy had more scallops than most lobster rolls have lobster! Spicy and delicious. The cauliflower app was perfect- the fresh mint was a nice touch. Baked Brie was incredible. Reasonable prices for reasonable portions. Small space with a great atmosphere and good vibes. 10/10 would recommend

Sitting at the bar is like sitting at a friend’s house. Peter’s attention to palate preferences is so helpful when he generously offers different pairing options. If you’re seeking fine dining quality with a more casual feel – this is your spot

Stellar in every way. Food was perfect, service was perfect, drinks were wonderful, atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming and everything was extremely clean. Probably the best overall dining experience we’ve had in years. Can’t wait to come back. A+++

Wonderful find in Rutland! The chaurterie board was amazing with locally sourced meat and cheeses. The Margherita flatbread and flour less chocolate cake was delicious. The owner was friendly and great to chat with. We will be visiting again!

We came here for dinner after reading the good reviews, then everything went south from there. Ordered the flatbread as in the picture, which was actually not bad. The problem was with the steak, which not only tastes like rubber, but stints! It literally smells rotten, and easily the worst food I’ve ever eaten in my entire life. The host did take it off our bill, so 5 star for the service, but zero star for the food. Will never be back again.

This place is awesome.

We first came here in the summer of 2021 and we liked it. We are back in Rutland a few times a year but for some reason we had not returned until tonight. I liked it then, but I feel like it has gotten better since then. Almost everything tonight was on point, just an excellent meal.

We ended up getting a bunch of appetizers as this makes the most sense to us. They are all very well done, and offer small bites of what the place has to offer.

I also appreciate that they have n/a beer options, which is not always the case these days.

Last would be the owner (Steve maybe?) who was really friendly in 2021 and continues to be in 2023. We will be back for sure, and we look forward to that!
