Excellent Service! Excellent Food! We had the loaded friends which were full of chesse, queso, bacon, and we could have had onions but we ordered without. I had the Drew Barry More Mule which was a perfect summertime refresher. Then we had The Anvil Cast Iron Pizza. I should have ordered it well done as I like my crust crisper but it was still good pizza. It was loaded with toppings. They also have a New York Style.

Great service and atmosphere. The pizza looked absolutely amazing, but unfortunately was not really that great. The crust was incredibly doughy on both NY (bbq brisket) and iron skillet (pepperoni/black olive) style, but especially the iron skillet version. Also way too much cheese which threw off the whole balance. Might be ok for some, just not us…

The cast iron pizza is so delicious! It has delightfully soft crust with crisp edges. I’ve never had a pizza quite like it, and I’m impressed! The gooey butter cake was also incredible. The filling is just as fluffy as I remember from my first time eating gooey butter cake, and the bottom is perfectly crumbly and buttery. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

Ate here with a friend last weekend and everything was delicious! We were starving after a day at Lake MacBride and shared the appetizer sampler (brisket nachos, loaded fries, brussel sprouts, and spinach artichoke dip.) We both got crispy chicken wraps (apple BBQ with onion straws for her and buffalo with seasoned fries for me.) Portions were PLENTY and we had to change our plans to walk leftovers back to our hotel.

We got the margherita pizza, local 89 burger, and the cheese bread sticks. Unfortunately the pizza dough was undercooked, so that was disappointing. Maybe the intention is that it should be pliable enough to be like a New York style pizza, but it was quite chewy/off-putting. Aside from the dough, the charred basil, mozzarella, and sauce were nothing to rave about. The burger was cooked medium well which was great, but the buns weren’t that great. Burger also wasn’t anything to rave about. Cheese bread was great though, would recommend the cheese bread

Very cozy and inviting atmosphere. Elk Sausage soup was the perfect starter on a cold, snowy day. Great food, very friendly staff. I recommend Brick & Iron as a must try! Can’t wait to hit this place next time for breakfast!

I have been wanting to try Brick and Iron since they opened. I finally did and was not disappointed. I met a friend for lunch to catch up. We ended up ordering two items to share. First was the appetizer Brisket Nachos. It had the perfect amount of ingredients brisket, jalapenos, cheese, sour cream and green onion. Everything went together well. For the main dish we shared the Anvil 12″ cast iron baked pizza. It was delicious and again just the right mix and amount of ingredients. We thought we may have room for dessert but sadly we did not. I will definitely be making another trip to try more of the items and dessert!

Elk soup was very good but with the garlic knot that came with it, cold in middle, asked for a fresh one, burnt. Can’t win. The pizza was good, with little undercooked dough in middle. Our waitress was wonderful.

Brick and Iron is a casual dining experience located on the ground floor of the new Latitude community on Hayden Fry Way in Coralville. The menu is simple, easy to read and offers food for just about everybody’s fancy. From apps like roasted brussel sprouts to New York Style Brick oven pizza to a glazed salmon entree. The bar offers a plethora of craft beers from local and nationally recognized breweries to specialty mules and martinis to wines. My wife and I visited later in the evening (8:30) and there were only about 12 patrons including us. The servers were very polite and helpful with questions about the menu. With the exception of the creme brulee our food was exceptional. When looking for new restaurants to eat at we often times look at restaurants that serve creme brulee as a dessert. We consider ourselves conissuers and make it at home often. The creme brulee was not made correctly, it was chunky, like scrambled eggs as the eggs were added to quickly during the mixing process. The creme brulee aside we enjoyed our brussel sprouts, Anvil Pizza, and mules. Definitely recommend giving Brick and Iron a try if you are looking for a departure from the typical pizza experience.
