I read the reviews prior to coming and had my mind set on the pepper jack homemade cheese sticks. Well… they aren’t pepper jack anymore. They are just okay. The bread and butter are delicious. The chicken tenders are delicious with homemade batter and honey mustard sauce can be iffy but it was also great. I got the app cheese sticks, three chicken tenders and a sweet tea for $20. I do wish they had a small side salad and not just the salad bar. Overall, it was good but not as great as it could have been or I had my hopes up for.

First time visit. Everything was outstanding. From the hostess and servers to the food. One of the best salad bars around. The tomato bisque soup was soo good. Filet mignon cooked perfectly. Stuffed bake potato was a perfect addition to the meal.

Service was great, restaurant itself was definitely older and dimly lit. While low light can be nice, it wasn’t in this setting. I ordered the 20oz honor brigade ribeye and for the price I was disappointed. I’ve had much better ribeyes for much less than $70+. It wasn’t bad by any means but not what i expected from that price. Salad bar was great though along with the strawberry butter and bread!

You will really want to try this restaurant. It is very popular with local folks, especially on special occasions. The service here is outstanding. The servers are very friendly, professional, and prompt with refills. The food is delicious and cooked perfectly to order. The restaurant is kept very clean. It is easy to find using Google Maps. There is plenty of free parking.

The salad bar id varied, 2 sided the steak was ordered medium rare. Served tepid. Flavorful, the rice pilaf is VERY bland. The strawberry butter is unique.

We enjoy trying new restaurants and Briarpatch was recommended by a friend of my husband’s. The friend recommended their steaks and my husband was in the mood for a steak.
We arrived at Briarpatch and as we entered the breezeway, there was a picture on the wall of a Tomahawk Pork Chop. It looked mouthwatering and needless to say my husband’s desire for steak left quickly lol I am generally not a steak girl, but I noticed a Filet and Shrimp combo. Our server, Jordan said it is her favorite. Enough said. I ordered Filet and Shrimp and my husband ordered the Tomahawk Pork Chop.
That Tomahawk Pork Chop was cooked and seasoned to perfection So tender, juicy and delicious!
My 6oz Filet, even though cooked more med than med rare, as I requested, was still very delicious. It was juicy, tender, flavorful and delicious We were both very pleased with our choice.
The main reason I wanted to go is “The Salad Bar” it most certainly did not disappoint. So many items to choose from and everything was fresh. So so good! A bonus is, the All You Can Eat Salad Bar comes with your entree
We also decided to try dessert. We chose the Caramel Brownie Cheesecake. Even though it is not made in house, it was very good!
When we arrived we were greeted with smiles and kindness. Jordan, our server was amazing. Crystal, one of the managers was helping on the floor and taking great care of customers as well. Bethany, another manager was also very kind and helpful. Needless to say, we had a wonderful experience and highly recommend Briarpatch!

Had a group of 7 last night. The medium rare steak was medium well. The salmon was undercooked. The mahi was room temp as were the mixed veggies and potatoes. The potatoes used to be so hot that you could see steam coming off of them. The mahi was recooked, but apparently not the mixed veggies. The second time it came out there was no seasoning on it. The hottest thing on our table was the side of broccoli. Can definitely tell a difference since the ownership change.

If you like a great soup and salad bar, this is the place to go. Two different soups, their standard Hopping John: loaded with sausage and blackeyed peas…but stop by the salad bar on your way back to your table and throw a couple of spoons of crumbled bacon on top. The second soup varies, ours was broccoli cheese, but, throw on some extra cheese, and bacon… from the salad bar. The salad bar: you need to go down both sides, they have different items on each side. Needless to say, there wasn’t anything, that I would ever want to put on a salad, that wasn’t there. Here is a key value tip: soup/salad bar is $16.95 and you could call it a day after that, but, the hamburgers [good solid 1/4 pound piece of meat with a side] costs about $11… add the salad bar for $6.95 more.
We just asked the waitress to make those to go. There are a few items that cost $15 or less so you can get the take home meal for a few extra bucks. The main entree menu starts about $27, but includes the salad bar, so figure $20 to $30 for your meal. We had margaritas which were $9.00 that are served in 16 ounces fish bowls. They were good. No skimping on the alcohol. Wife ordered a 7&7, came in at 12 ounce tumbler, nearly all Seagrams just a splash of 7-up. For desert we had a few fruits from the salad bar [pineapple, peach halves and pear halves] so I can’t rate their actual desert selection. Although, what we did see being served was very large portions. Final note: 3 couples at the table and the waitress was happy to give us three separate checks. Not even an eye roll or dropped shoulder. Enjoy!

Loved this place when I was younger. Moved away to Illinois for 14 years, and moved back to Owensboro. Thought I’d try my old favorite restaurant. I ordered the ribeye steak dinner with the salad bar (a $5) added menu price. I ordered the kids burger for my boy, and added the salad bar for him for $4.95. We had salad and bread before our food come. When it arrived, I ordered a steak medium. When I cut into my steak, it was almost well done. So I sent it back. The next 1 come out more or less raw. The only thing I can say is the mixed drinks were the only thing on par of the whole experience. I left paying $52 for a salad, some sautéed mushrooms, a kid burger and fries, and the pepperoni and olives my kid ate. And the 3 bites of steak I had. I ended up going to Hardee’s after I left, just to get a burger…
Odd thing was, they charged $17.95 for their salad buffet…
But they give you a $5 credit if you don’t want the buffett…
Doubt that I’ll go back.

I really enjoyed my experience coming to Briarpatch. The staff was very friendly and professional. I really liked the atmosphere, the salad bar and soup was well stocked and maintained. The bread they put in the table at the start of the meal was very good. They were busy but our waiter was on it and kept our drinks filled and us informed of our meals. My wife had a shrimp cocktail as a meal and asked for it to come out with my meal and the waiter was on it. I really enjoyed my meal, my steak needed no sauce it was delicious and juicy. I would recommend this to others.
