The food here is amazing which I’m sure you’ll read on every review.
But I’d also rate the staff so highly, they are incredibly attentive and just genuinely nice people.
I love the general vibe of the place and it has a great atmosphere.
If you like meats then go here it’s pretty simple.
First of all, the system for ordering your food and drinks is terrible. You queue to order your food and then you move along a line like in a school cafeteria and you collect it at the end. Not quite the experience I was expecting.
They take your name and write it down on the ticket and then the final guy in the chain bellows out your name and you go forward to collect your meal.
Today, in my opinion, was not a very particularly busy day, but these guys seemed to struggle. Granted, it didn’t help that their tills went down for a few minutes, but it was chaotic.
Too many people waiting for their food at the end of the line, too many people waiting to order their food and then, to top it all off, you have to go and order your drinks at a separate bar.
If you’re on your own, the ability to grab a seat is pretty much non-existent due to this system and, even if you are with another person, you may still have to leave something at your table in order to ensure you have secured one. Needless to say, not a good thing.
With all its claims of being a BBQ place, I found it strange that on a Sunday they serve carvery style food. I would expect them to serve heaped mounds of BBQ’ed meaty goodness, but I have to say, that is not the case.
I ordered the pork belly ribs, which is supposed to be 1/4lbs, but was just one rib. It was tasty, but nothing special. I also ordered two sides comprised of the mac ‘n’ cheese (stodgy) and the chimichurri slaw. My total for the food alone came to £18.91, which is interesting, since you can see on the menu that it should have been £18 on the nose!
My partner ordered the pulled Sunday lamb, which she said was overly salty, which it was, and I’m a guy who likes salt. She also ordered the cornbread, which was put through the till, only for her to then be told that they had run out of it over an hour earlier! Come on guys! Let’s have some communication between front and back of house, please. Her final side was “creamed corn”. More like tinned corn in a bowl. No creaminess or anything.
Add on the £5 for the cherry cream drink, which was actually rather tasty, and the total for my meal alone came to £23.91 which, in my humble opinion, was not worth it.
For me, the biggest saving grace were the staff, who were very friendly and helpful, but that’s not what one goes there for. The star of the show should be the food and, in this case, it was not.
It’s a shame, because I had high hopes for this place, but it seems that we Brits just can’t get American-style BBQ right. Guess I’ll just have to rely on having the real thing when I’m next in the US.
Everything we had was absolutely delicious. I had the Pulled Pork Bun and it was so tender, my husband had the Cheese & Jalapeño Hotdog and said it was delicious.
Even the tater tots and brisket chili were 10/10
It was a quiet day when we went, no issues getting a table.
Ordering – it’s a bit strange and can easily confuse, the staff were helpful and got there in the end.
I had a small big tray at £25 with Brisket, Turkey and sides and my partner had sausage with lamb.
The food was really tasty and cooked well, everything worked well with the sauces and I really enjoyed the food.
The tray liner gets wet quite quickly and breaks up goes all over the place.
Did go for a pudding as well but one was sold out and the key lime pies weren’t ready. So had to go without.
It’s not cheap, with food and drink, the amount of food is value for money and I would go again but lots of other places to explore first.
The Big Tray did not disappoint (understatement of the year). The staff are just as amazing as the food!!
Thanks team Brewski!
Generous portions, perfectly smoked meats, and flavours that mean business—this is comfort food operating at executive level.
If you’re looking for a place that nails great food, great energy, and a true smokehouse experience, Brewskis is the strategic choice. I’ll be back, and I’m not even pretending otherwise.
!! Great date venue !!
