The roast pork belly was the standout for me and really was the crowning glory of the platter. It was cooked to perfection with a beautiful layer of thin, crispy crackling on top. The parsnips were delicious, the vegetables were lovely overall and the beef was also very good. The Yorkshire puddings were light and airy and did not sit heavy on the stomach at all. The venue itself is clean, comfortable and has a great atmosphere.
If I were to offer a little constructive feedback, I would suggest serving the gravy in a gravy boat, as pouring it from the small bowl was a bit messy. Sharper knives would also be an improvement, as we did struggle slightly to cut some of the meat with the cutlery provided. The pigs in blankets were hot honey, and as someone who does not enjoy spicy food, that was a shame for me. The battered chicken was tasty but also had a bit of spice to it, and overall it felt a little out of place on a traditional Sunday roast, seeming more suited to something like a wrap with lettuce and mayo.
Overall though, we really enjoyed our meal and would happily return.
So we though….how bad can it be !
First time here so explained this to the young girl serving us, when I asked a question her response was, I dunno I’ve just come on shift I’ll go ask the manager!!!
Drinks ordered…unfortunately for us there was a large family in making the most horrendous noise and we were literally having to shout at each other to be heard whilst trying to work out the menu, which BTW is completely different than the one they show online, to be told we’ll we do change our menus every 3 .months.
4 roast dinners orders.
Food came and tbh I was shocked at what I saw…. Yorkshire pudding as large as the main dinner and so burnt it literally went to dust when we tried to eat it. Roast potatoes so dry and no sign of any garlic ? Fried chicken on a Sunday roast ? Oh and totally over fried and dry. Peas…raw, now the main part of a roast…… Roast Strploin of beef so undercooked it was mooing !! It shouldn’t be that the gravy helps cook the beef !! ( see last pic, colour difference).
Come for me if you wish but when my working life has been in catering as a qualified butcher and now I run a kitchen, yes I do know what I’m talking about.
Bill presented £122 for 4 , Oh with an added on service charge of £11, HANG ON…. WHAT ? thank you i choose how much tip I want to leave NOT you !
Only upside was a free £9 dessert for the beef issue.
Never will I return !
We had a platter that was £80 for 2 and the only good thing about it was the burger and wrap. The sausage was fine, the Wellington spring roll was ok but the cauliflower and potato dishes were worse than a super market.
The Brie and bacon burger we had didn’t taste of Brie at all and the meat was burnt around the edge, not in a nice way, but a burnt to crisp charcoal way.
We upgraded the chips to the £6.50 fancy ones and they charged £4.50 to do so from the normal chips. That’s far too much, it should be £2 to upgrade. Had we known we would have just ordered them separately anyway and kept the original chips.
Most disappointing was the lack of lamb on any dish other than the platter. When we asked if we could sub the lamb for some fried chicken, a chicken thigh or some pork they waitress said “no”, very bad service.
To top it off when we paid the bill through the app the “discretionary service charge of 12.5%” isn’t discretionary because you can’t take it off. You can only choose to not tip even more than that.
The atmosphere was nice.
Overall disappointed, basically paid £25 for a burger and chips that was ok. The platter was very sub par. Wouldn’t go back without big changes.
The food is phenomenal, great selection, great prices.
Serves American style plates, and very well made if I do say so.
The staff is friendly and professional, no issues there.
Was a little loud but to be expected on a Friday night.
The cocktails selection is also very nice with some interesting choices to pick from.
Would definitely recommend to try at least once.
