I have driven past it like that ship that passes unnoticed in the inky night. Perched right across from my neighborhood Safeway I must have not seen it hundreds of times. Perhaps it was sprinkled with fairy dust or had a vanishing spell that concealed it like fog conceals a remote lighthouse.
Well, suddenly it appears as obviously as a nose on a face… and here we are.
It is spacious, with a cavernous feel brought on by the high dark ceiling and the acoustics are a bit on the loud side although it was not cacophonous.
All in all I could see this place as a neighborhood resting place when you can’t stay there but you don’t want to go home. You know, like the home bound goose stops at an inviting pond, even though it is on the last leg.
So, the mocha was piping hot, which is a blessing as so many places have no compunction against serving luke warm drinks that I find a touch insulting. The drink itself was serviceable and I enjoyed the soft chair as I relaxed and imbibed.
It took a long time with no one in line in front of me, but that seemed normal for the place and the staff did not seem particularly engaged. One can tell there are a lot of regulars who are known to the staff and feel comfortable and un-rushed.
It might be a good alternative to the closing time of the Donut Nook, another example of, You don’t have to go home.
So Brewed Awakenings serves at least one purpose that roots it solidly in my amorphous and vague memory. It is a good place to meet fellow travelers.
It is a branch to rest awhile on the journey home. It does not rush you, or make you feel judged or out of place.
In other words it is a place where communities can grow, it is a refuge from the wilderness.
This is what I seek. Someplace calm and roomy. Someplace that feels like community.
Definitely a nice and pleasant place to hang out and drink coffee, tea, and others while playing and socializing.
Fantastic baristas. Delicious coffee and pastries. Ample sitting room and tables. Fast WiFi. Lots of big windows for natural light. A warm and inviting fireplace. Not too noisy and nice ambiance.
You can’t really ask for more when it comes to a coffee shop.
Mmm
Enough caffeine to raise my heart rate. Best taste in the state
