The Breezeway Restaurant and Motel is a tradition on Topsail Island. Long famous for its fried seafood and hushpuppies, the Breezeway now features a diverse menu that offers something for everyone. The Breezeway Restaurant is the longest running restaurant in Pender County! We have been open since 1949!
Informal oceanfront institution serving familiar fried & steamed seafood dishes since 1949.

Started with 4 hushpuppies ( I never seem to get them all in the picture!) The spiced berry drink was quite tasty. A little and I mean just a little on the sweet side. Crab cakes were good. Friendly staff. Gets crowded early for inside dining. Outside was nice.

Nice view & friendly staff but that is about the only nice thing about it. Our dinners were $25 each but taste like a $5.99 special at best. The seafood lasagna tasted like a heat and serve. The Mac and Cheese I feel certain came out of a can. I would not recommend at all.

We visited on their first open weekend, so several menu items were not yet available. There were 6 of us and we all enjoyed our meals. We had fried pickles, hot crab dip, large seafood platter, shrimp and grits, grilled salmon, and seafood Alfredo. Service was good. The atmosphere is simple, but the views are gorgeous. We would definitely visit again.

I usually love eating at the beach, after all, location! location! Seating with a view of the water. So I was disappointed at my experience at this restaurant.
We were tucked in a corner table with barely enough room to move our chairs in or out. Our waiter was friendly but not knowledgeable about the menu.
The fried pickles were good with a nice crisp taste. However, the breading on my scallops was mushy, as if made ahead and sitting under the warmer.
Sadly, one visit was enough.

I had the grilled scallops, Brad had the clam strips. Both were amazing and delicious! The sauce with the scallops was a ginger sweet sauce, perfect pairing! Got the salad with the house made ranch dressing- they really need to bottle and sell that stuff! Finished off with the key lime pie which we will definitely be ordering again and again! Must visit – it’s is literally to write home about!

Server was great, the food just wasn’t. Hush puppies and boiled shrimp were great, but the calamari was probably the worst I’ve ever had. Something was very off with the breading, ended up wasting the whole plate. Clam chowder is not fresh, fairly certain it’s just canned and reheated. Round potatoes and chewy pink clams was a good tip off. If the chowder is made fresh, what a disappointment to spend that much time on something that tastes like that.

The hush puppies are amazing. I always order the shrimp and grits and they’re to die for! Do yourself a favor and get there early, and treat yourself! Snag a bag of hush puppy mix to take home. This is our favorite restaurant on Topsail!

Great food, but we were there for 2 hours before being able to eat. I would recommend arriving after 7 pm as that’s when it seemed less busy while we were there.
They do have a large fish tank at the entrance.

We tried this restaurant based on the great reviews & we’re so happy we did! The food, service & location right on the water were excellent. The hush puppies come fresh & hot! Do not pass these up. I highly recommend the grouper fingers & crab cakes. Everything was wonderful, including our lovely servers. The restaurant & bathrooms are very clean. Thank you for an excellent dining experience

This is the seafood restaurant experience from the 70’s. Everything fried, get you in and out, amazing sunset if you get there at the right time….I suggest getting to the bar at 7p, wait for the dining room will be an hour. We really enjoyed ourselves, we had the right expectations and we’re satisfied with the experience.
