Fantastic little spot. Great service, delicious food (and plenty of it!) loved to hear there is bottomless coffee. I appreciate the atmosphere and praise the owners for their service and love of Jesus. We’re new in town and happy to have this spot nearby! God bless.

We love to come here on the weekends. It deserves some praise. The quality, abundance and creativity of their plates are incredible and it’s awesome to have them here in Newport. Highly recommend!

7/18/25—So, we had two more friends visiting our lake house and they decided the night before that we should all go out for breakfast. I don’t usually eat breakfast, but since our lake house vacation was coming to an end, I thought, “Why not? Let’s live dangerously and eat pancakes at 10 AM”

My husband had already been to this place last year and recommended it. He kept saying we would love it and that they served the best French toast ever. So, we drove there. It’s right next to the police station, which made me feel extra safe—because, you know, in this quiet little town, if nothing happens, we’re still safe. (My logic is flawless, right?)

The town itself is so low-key it feels like time just moves slower there. When I walked in, the first thing I noticed were two tables by the window. For a moment, I honestly thought the guy sitting there was a mannequin. He was just that still. I loved the cozy vibe!

Then I spotted a table covered with books. To my wonderful surprise, this wasn’t just breakfast for the body—it was breakfast for the soul. They had Bibles, magazines about dogs (yes, Gundogs!), and uplifting messages straight from the Word of God. Right at the entrance, they have the menus, but nothing really caught my attention, so I made my own custom order.

Here’s how it works: you walk up to the counter, order your food, and they bring it to your table. I ordered pancakes, one egg, ham, and sausage. And let me tell you… that sausage was the best I’ve ever had! Usually, sausages taste like they were mass-produced in a factory, but this one was succulent. It had a little spice—not too much, just enough to make me want another bite.

Coffee is self-serve, with regular and decaf. And I loved the Coca-Cola bottles filled with maple syrup—it’s the little details that win me over. The bathroom? Uber clean. The kitchen is in plain view, which made me feel as safe as if I were inside the police station next door.

We were four in total. The other two ordered fruit with something else and couldn’t stop saying how fresh and sweet it was. Another guest tried the French toast and declared it was heavenly. Someone else had the bacon and said it was the best she’d ever tasted. Honestly, you can feel the food here is cooked with divine love.

I truly loved this place, and I’m so glad I went. At first, I thought the name “Breaking Bread” was just a clever spin on the show Breaking Bad, but once I was there, I knew exactly what it meant. (Hint: you should find out for yourself!)

I give this breakfast spot a solid “divine appointment” rating—as if it was planned for you since before the foundation of the earth.

Hands down the BEST chicken and waffles I’ve ever had!
I never would’ve thought to add gravy, eggs, and bacon on top—but it took the dish to a whole new level. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the waffle was both crispy and fluffy, and every bite was packed with incredible flavor. A total must-try!
It was so good, I had to go back and tell the cook myself—he deserved all the praise.

Just left our first time visit to Breaking Bread and we were VERY pleased. This will be our new go-to breakfast place. We got the Newport for $7 and I couldn’t even finish: the smash browns were great, eggs to perfection. The vibe is spot on, and we got the story of the owner who came to know Jesus after a stroke that left him dead for 50 minutes. This is a down home, seat yourself, order at the counter, grab your coffee and find a table place with lots of friendly people. Absolutely fantastic overall.

I love this restaurant. Stopped in on our way north. So happy to find such a great spot. Diner vibe. Breakfast sandwich was huge, and smashed potatoes are definitely unique, and so good. We also ordered pancakes, and they came with bacon, and some pretty amazing fruit. You order at the counter, and the server delivers your food. She was such a kind, and lovely person to chat with.
Honestly, if you don’t like the people here, do some self reflection. I love their spiritual devotion. It’s refreshing.
Great food, reasonably priced, and kind staff. Will be back, and can’t wait 🙂

Me and my wife’s favorite place to eat on the weekend. Chef Jeff is an amazing chef. I order the chefs surprise when I go because I have never had ANYTHING that I did not thoroughly enjoy. I never know what I am getting, but I am confident that it will be amazing, and the portions are big so you leave full and blessed. Jeff and Sam are amazing hosts and very welcoming. The Christian theme and atmosphere are also comforting and add to the AMAZING food. I Highly recommend Breaking Bread as a sit down food spot, or for take out. 5 out of 5 rating.

Stopped in while on a week getaway. Located in such a cool town we were greeted by a very friendly staff and hostess. Really neat means called the ten commandments that offers a wide range of breakfast items. Everything is fresh and cooked to order then brought to the table. Good portion size and tasted fantastic. Definitely will be back when we visit family and I suggest you give them a visit.
