Their egg tarts are yummy too!
We are regulars here and love coming back here everytime!
I was looking for a place that make cakes with taro paste filling, and this place delivered. I called in to ask and place a cake order. The lady I talked to on the phone was friendly, patient, and knowledgeable.
As it turns out, they offer various fillings and you can have 2 different fillings per cake if you want (their cakes are three layers). I don’t remember all the fillings they offer, but they include taro, chestnut, a specific fruit, or a variety of fruit. For the cake itself, they offer vanilla, chocolate, or green tea flavor. And for the outside decorations, they offer various styles that are displayed on their website. I believe their cakes come in 6″, 8″, and 10″, but I’m not completely sure. Price varies by cake size.
When we went to pick up the cake, the lady at the counter (different from the phone person) was very rude and curt. Nevertheless, we managed to get the cake without too much trouble. I was interested to note they included a bag on the side of the cake box, holding a plastic serving knife and a packet of long thin candles. Note the box opens from the sides and not the top.
The cake itself was exactly what I ordered: 8″ green tea cake with taro filling, style B (it’s supposed to be a sheep), and a birthday message. The message is chocolate on a “board” of white chocolate. The cake was delicious, though I was surprised at how dry and crumbly the taro filling was. And the green tea flavor in the cake was about the same as Japong’s matcha cake (not much flavor). The frosting is whipped cream and the cake itself is light and fluffy. Pretty good for $40.
Pro :the staff is friendly,(greeting); Store hygiene is 8/10 ..
Cons: I ordered 3 boxes of the desserts, they don’t even give/ pack in a bag? Little upset.. the taste of the food is 5/10… and last, I would like to pack some of egg tarts separately, the ladies didn’t pack what I want, feel embarrassed about that..
There’s only about two tables inside the bakery so it’s not a sit-to-eat place which I don’t mind. Their bubble tea is a miss for me, but I let it slide since it’s not a bubble tea place.
