I’ve lived in Palatine for almost 10 years and usually go to a chain restaurant for breakfast like First Watch or Brunch Cafe. Today I decided that I wanted to try a local spot that I’ve never been to before and I definitely understand why I stick to the chain restaurants. I ordered the pancake and egg breakfast for my kids to share and it came with a piece of bacon that was completely burnt and almost inedible. I then had to get up and ask the server for a new piece because he never made an attempt to come and check on us after dropping the food off. Then as I was cutting into my chorizo Benedict to take my first bite I noticed a short, straight black hair sitting right on top of the egg. I again had to get up and go bring my plate to the server and let him know that there was a hair in my food. A couple minutes later he came back with a new piece of bacon and the same plate that I had handed to him. They simply took off the hair and tried to give me my plate back and I then explained for a second time that there was a hair in my actual food. Absolutely nothing redeeming that would make me want to come back. My 1 year old didn’t even eat because she didn’t like anything and this girl eats EVERYTHING.

Love this place! I normally get the French toast and it is delicious. The bread is so soft you are cutting through air but tastes amazing. The staff is so great and nice that you can’t have a bad time when you come here

Wonderful, tasty, and very reasonably priced breakfast! We went here and ordered corn beef hash and #5 combo (cinnamon French toast + 2 eggs + has browns + 2 bacons). The service was fast and our server was so incredibly kind. Bread & Butter Cafe has a very comfy and cozy ambiance. We will be coming back!

The food was okay, nothing great, especially for the price. But we got one sausage link, which was not done right. It tasted as if made in a rancid oil that really put us off. Otherwise, the food was not bad but not great as well.

Surprisingly this was not our first choice for breakfast, but should have been.
Nice cozy diner with great breakfast. Everything was well seasoned and had great flavors, we devoured everything!
Will definitely be on our list!

I was very pleased by the food at Bread & Butter Cafe. My omelet was very good, and a reasonable portion size. They have a wide variety of pancakes, waffles, french toast, etc. with a variety of toppings. They even have gluten free pancakes.
Staff were friendly and helpful, and service was quick. The outdoor seating was a pleasant way to limit exposure, as well.
I can solidly recommend Bread & Butter Cafe.

Outside seating! We visit multiple days a week for breakfast for the great service, including an amazingly fast kitchen. Their potatoes are the best around–tender inside and crispy outside. One of our favs is the Country Fried Steak. Try the biscuits and gravy too!!!
