We had heard of Bread and vine through someone who recommended their amazing drinks. The drinks didn’t disappoint and the food didn’t either. The Fresh lobster pappardelle was delicious and I would definitely order that again to taste the creamy sauce.

The only thing I’ll note is that the music is so loud in there you can barely speak to your partner in there as it does turn more into a bar scene towards the night. I had a hard time hearing our server most of the time from when we entered to when we left. As others have mentioned too the seating is really cramped, it felt like we were invading the couples space who was next to us. Our server did do an great job though.

Best new secret in Dubuque! We were celebrating our 9-year anniversary and I want to go back for my birthday in about 3 weeks and we live about 1.5 hours away! WORTH THE DRIVE! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would in every category! Eric, the owner, is a wonderful human and has brought something truly unique & special to Dubuque. Max has created a one-of-a-kind cocktail menu unlike any I’ve ever seen or tasted. London delivered the best service and show with the hand-crafted cocktails! The quality of the service, food, drinks, atmosphere, and vibes are incomparable!

Wow wow wowwwww!!! This menu is TOP NOTCH. You really won’t find anything like it in Dubuque! Everything we had was absolutely delicious. The service was on point, cocktails are AMAZING, and the food is a 10 out of 5.
Great date night spot, or with a group of friends.

We had some amazing apps and drinks. But if your server asks how your main course is do not tell them it tasted bland, a combative owner will show up and tell you he ate some off your plate and it tasted fine to him. I thought as a newer establishment they’d want honest feedback. We folded up our dessert menus and left. Ruined our experience and date night.

EDIT: He comped the shrimp even though I insisted he didn’t need to and never asked for any discount off our bill. It’s not about the money. Our experience was ruined by the owner. Take your business elsewhere.

I run a women’s weekend event in nearby Galena where the original Bread & Vine is located. I worked with owner, Eric Bonnetain, to arrange a dinner for 25 at the new Dubuque location this past weekend. Never did we expect our ladies to be treated like the VIPs they were! Eric asked me for our logo and he had it displayed on a big screen, the room was decorated beautifully, they had more than enough room to dance, socialize, etc. In fact, we teased them that they better not think they were royalty now since it looked like they were in a castle. They were so impressed by the service, the glow in the dark drinks, and the food! I heard rave reviews from everything from the steak down to the risotto!! A surprise visit from the owner himself made them feel special. If you are planning a group event, your team or group will certainly remember an evening at Bread & Vine! Just look at this room – wow! Thank you to Eric and the entire staff at Bread & Vine for this exceptional treatment – very much appreciated! Co-Founder of the Spaless Weekenders.

Dubuque will enjoy this restaurant once all the wrinkles are ironed out.

Only 1 month open, it is worth a visit. The food may lack lustre, but its eccentric ambiance certainly makes up for it. A kitschy dinner menu on a record cover (dessert menu is on the record label), discotheque vibes, and a live dj supplying low-fi tunes will make any occasion more special.

The menu’s delectable variety reveals its French persuasion amid the glittery showers from the disco ball overhead. The elements are all there: the duck, the lamb, the tuna, the foie gras. The timing is still yet to be desired. We had warm-ish lamb and lukewarm duck. The presentation was mediocre. We decided to add an entree to carry-out with us and went with a tuna poke – cold (just the way it should be).

Service has potential, but still rough around the edges. Some fine tuning, especially when communicating with food runners on guests with allergies, will make a large impact.

Would I dine there again? Absolutely! I’ll be back in 6 months, after the dust settles and everyone has found their groove.

The staff there is very personable. We had asked our waiter on suggestions for drinks. Even though the other half of our table was talking and didn’t hear his recommendations the first time, he didn’t complain when the other half asked him a second time. I do suggest to eat here and try their Pink Panther. Very good and you won’t be disappointed either while they make the drink in front of you.
