Born in Foggia, Italy, Lucio “Lou” Bozzelli co-founded with his brother, Tony, what was originally known as “Bozzelli’s Brothers Deli. Their business philosophy was simple: SERVE. GOOD. FOOD. Initially, the menu was limited to cold Italian sub sandwiches because they could not afford a grill. Through word of mouth, the only form of advertising the believed in, their business started to grow and as their budding operation improved they expanded the menu to include hot food like steak subs and pizza. Lou’s brother, Tony, continued to operate the business after Lou’s passing in 1989. To honor Lou’s legacy, his wife and children looked to the stars for inspiration–hence, the spaceman–and relaunched the shop and have now grown to five stores.

Bozzelli’s became an instant favorite on our trip to Arlington. I was very happy to see they had options for vegans/vegetarians. I got a pizza with vegan cheese and vegan sausage and loved it, so I went back to try their vegan melt. It was delicious. Would definitely recommend for a quick takeout meal.

Best Guten free crust I’ve had so far. So good! And the service was great and helpful. I had gluten free crust, vegan cheese, red sauce, spinach, jalapenos, & vegan pepperonis. Such a great spot for someone like me who is non-dairy and gluten free. Not vegan but because they have the option I decided to go with the vegan pepperonis and they were good.

Was looking for something local and quick, while waiting for a big group outing and stumbled on this counter service Italian everything place. Sounds like this is only one of many locations for Bozelli’s but it was just what I was looking for. Although there were tables out front this is truly a grab and go type establishment. The pickle pizza I ordered was probably one of the best I have ever had. The crust wasn’t to thick or too thin and was both crispy and chewy where it needed to be. It’s a must try for the pickle lover! Was filling but not too heavy and a perfect mix of pickle, seasoning and ranch. They offer an extensive menu so I’m pretty sure we will head back before the trip

The white pizza is absolutely phenomenal. Some of the best I’ve ever had. I added mushrooms and they piled them on. Highly recommend.
Garlic knots were ok. Too greasy. Might taste better if they were eaten fresh but I got food to-go.
Location is just around the corner from the Hyatt hotel where I was staying and I was able to walk there. Very convenient and actually very good food. I would go out of my way to get their white pizza.

The pizza smells SO good! I got the meat lovers and they are very generous with their toppings. The 10” is far big enough for any normal human stomach 🙂 It’s a very small shop footprint so the line is chaotic during lunch rush. They have a really eclectic, diverse selection of bottled beers as well for those in the area on vacation or travel who want a six pack of not bud lite. Photos as of March 2019.
