Stopped by Boxcar Betty’s in North Charleston and overall I’d give it a solid four stars. I’ve heard a lot of hype about this place and for the most part it lived up to it.
I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with pimento cheese and fries, and the flavor was honestly really good. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and had that fresh-made taste instead of feeling like it had been sitting. The toppings worked well together and the bun held up, which I always notice because a lot of places mess that part up. Fries were solid too — hot and seasoned well, nothing crazy but definitely better than average.
The only reason I’m not giving five stars is the wait. It took a little longer than I expected for a quick lunch stop, and the place felt a bit cramped when it got busy. Not a huge deal, just something I noticed.
I’m in my late 20s and eat out pretty often, especially at chicken spots, and this is definitely one I’d come back to. Good portions, good flavor, and it feels like they actually care about the food. If you’re in North Charleston and want a legit chicken sandwich, this place is worth checking out.

They would have gotten five stars if their house made pickles didn’t have the produce sticker still on it. I was halfway through my sandwich but this turned me off. Thinking I must of already eaten the other half or some one else did. Other than this the sandwich and the fries were pretty good.

I’ve read the other reviews. From the highest to the lowest. And I still went in with an open mind to make my own decision. Their chicken sandwich is good. Is it worth the price? Depends on who you ask. But for over $18 for a Not So Waffle chicken sandwich, fries, and a drink that is pretty steep. You can go somewhere like Chili’s and get food that not only is just as good with bigger portions but at a fraction of the price. I get it you’re running a business but if y’all are strapped for cash then so are we. I’m not asking you to make your prices “dirt cheap” by no means but maybe slightly more affordable? Yes I will be back the food is good however with their prices it’s more of a treat and a luxury to eat here so maybe every other month.

This was pretty good. We went on recommendation from my fiance’s boss. It wasn’t exactly what I was expecting, but we did enjoy it. They do charge extra for sauces on the sode though, which I’m not a fan of. Their sandwiches come with a sauce I’ve never heard of, so I asked for it on the side and was charged extra. The fries are also cut very interestingly. They are not a uniform size. The seasoning on them was good though. We would come back if we’re in the area.

If you’re craving delicious, perfectly cooked non-greasy chicken and amazing fries with an inviting atmosphere and top-notch service, this place should be your next stop. We regularly take our staff here for work lunches, and it never disappoints. From the moment you walk in, the friendly staff greets you like you’re part of the family. They truly go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and ensure your meal is exactly what you want.
The food is absolutely fantastic. The chicken is always tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Whether you’re into crispy fried chicken, smoky grilled options, they’ve got it all. The sides are equally impressive—freshly made every time! Great fried pickles and their sauces always hit the spot as well!
We love coming here with our team for lunch; it’s the perfect spot to unwind, bond, and enjoy great food. Highly recommend this spot for anyone in the mood for some seriously good chicken and great burgers, a friendly face, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay just a little longer.

Delicious! One of my favorite chicken sandwiches. Costs more than Chick-fil-A but is worth it for the fresh, juicy, perfectly fried chicken. Fries are pretty good too if you are a fan of their style. Sweet potato fries weren’t amazing but worth it. Mine may have sat for a bit before being served. Chicken sandwich is comparable to Bahama Breeze’s across the road or PDQ’s. Will definitely come again.

One of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had. Next best is a place in Maine! Will definitely be back when we’re in town.

If 5 guys joined a sorority. Food is the only glimmer of hope this chain has, and that’s being generous. From walking in the door the layout is a poor use of space, limiting the seating with large open spaces, and the customer chute has tvs for the menu too high up and close to read easily. $15 for a chicken sandwich with soggy fries, the first 5 toppings are free; the BK styled chopped lettuce and onion leave a lot to be desired. People complain about prices being too high and then frequent a place like this where fast food is being served in a sit down environment for two people to have lunch is just shy of $40. I feel ashamed for having visited.

Outstanding spot! Tried both their classic and spicy chicken sandwich options, and both were fantastic – delicious, juicy chicken, and a terrific mix of sauces and other ingredients all helped to make these some of the better fried chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had. Lots of tasty side options, as well – the fried pickles were choice. Would definitely come back here.

Really good Nashville chicken sandwich and crispy fries made from real potatoes, probably the best around this part of town. The burger was ehh and the atmosphere is pretty bland and it’s on the pricer side for a chicken sandwich/burger. All in all, I would definitely come back.
