It’s the epitome of the ‘local’ feel. We had a great time. Yes it’s expensive, about $30 for a dinner plate, but their crab cakes are quite delicious.

Great fish shack. Laid back atmosphere. No pretensions here. Prices were fair. Seafood is very fresh with boats unloading right at the dock. I came too early for oyster season. Unfortunately I missed out on the steamed oysters I always make sure to stop here for dinner at least once when I visit Charleston. Highly recommend it

Authentic low country cuisine. Beautiful views of the sunset. Order at the bar and serve yourself. No frills, delicious, stuff your face seafood. Sometimes they have specials but don’t expect anything fancy here. Pot holes and gravel roads lead you in so driver beware. Fresh oysters and amazing shrimp and grits!

We had no clue this place was here. We had come for a boat tour. After touring, we decided to eat here. There was a line to the outside door. It moved quickly. I loved how they took orders, you made your drink , and they brought your order out within 15 minutes. The food was fresh, hot, and not greasy. The place was packed and the service was on spot! We will definitely be recommending this restaurant and will return on future visits.

A real American classic, Bowens Island restaurant has been serving great seafood since 1946. In 2023, it’s still going strong.

Cute restaurant on the river. Nice fresh seafood. The boiled peanuts were really good, as well as the key lime pie. The shrimp was fresh, and the crab cake had lots of crab. The coleslaw left a bit to be desired as was not dressed enough in my opinion.

Beautiful place to unwind after a day on the beach that’s farther away from the touristy areas. Went for dinner there after visiting folly beach and got a shrimp platter with fish. It was very good. Also tried the crab cakes and crab dip which were great. Everything tasted fresh and had beautiful views on the balcony

Hadn’t been here since before the fire and the restaurant is a little different but still the same great food! In my opinion this place captures the epitome of lowcountry seafood better than most. Fried food on a paper plate with squirt bottles of sauce and while you sit on a deck looking over the marsh. Forget the fancy stuff this is way seafood is meant to be enjoyed!

Food is great and they have big amount for one person. But the service could have been better. It take so long and very long line and the person in the cashier dissappear and come back after a few mins. Since we are 10 people it takes awhile, some got their food early and some still waiting. Hopefully they have more people serving or more staff receiving food order. But the food and place is great.

The experience of sitting and looking at the water with the breeze was very nice, and the food was ok. Not terrific. They were short a cook/chef, so that might have been why the food was not terrific, but overall it was enjoyable. We had the seafood platter and Caesar salads. To get there, you’ll have to drive down a dirt, bumpy road, so don’t think you’ve taken the wrong road. It’s down there after many beautiful homes a Long the way.
