My boyfriend and I had a wonderful first time here! Jackson is a wonderful bartender and his service is top notch. He made wonderful recommendations and we took every single one of them. Neither of us drink, but we had wonderful mocktails (The French 42 was our favorite!) We started with the truffle fries, which was served with a wonderful garlic Dijon aoili. My boyfriend had The Cowboy, and I had the market fish (which was a wonderful rare yellowfin tuna, recommended my Jackson when I told him I was allergic to red meat). We got a celebratory crème brûlée that was wonderful as well. All of the staff members were very friendly. All in all absolutely 10/10 and we will be back for our next celebration:)

Excellent food and service! First time visit and was thoroughly impressed with food, ambiance and setting. Staff went out of their way to accommodate the dining experience. Good options across the menu for non red meat eaters (which I am) so definitely will be returning.

Server made several inappropriate comments towards our table. We had to push along to place an order. Reservations at 7:45, did not leave until 10:30 due to such slow service. Steak was rather bland overall.
Attempted to call restaurant on several occasions to give feedback around these issues. No answer. Filled out the section online to be contacted. It’s been several days since.

We made reservations weeks in advance as we wanted to make sure we could get in for dinner for my wife’s birthday. We were seated in the back corner by the stock room next to a large party, even though the bar/dining area was completely empty. The party was the family of a worker and they were all watching videos on their phone on full blast with the worker. Needless to say, the ambience was ruined from the start.

We have been to this location many times, and the food is usually top notch, the salads were both very small and my wedge was just loose leaves. It took almost thirty five minutes for our main dishes to come out after our salads, and when it did, the lobster mac came out cold and had to be sent back to heat up. The steak was, of course, perfect as always as were the scallops.

Our waitress, Cassandra, was amazing.

We will chalk this up to a fluke, but with Gin Gins and Butchers in town now, we do have other options.

Overpriced and disappointing. The menu was limited and unclear, the so-called Tomahawk steak was just beef with a bare bone on the side, and the atmosphere was dark and airless. To top it off, the waiter even asked if I wanted to take the bone!. Definitely not worth it

I usually go to the bowdies in Lansing! I literally rave to everyone about how good these steaks are! I happened to go to the Grand Rapids one because i work out here. When i tell you the disappointed on my face taking a bite into my steak my heart shattered from the difference in the steaks from both locations. They gave us a complimentary desert and when i tell you it tasted like we were chewing sugar grains & got a fishy taste, I can’t make this up. The server said the seasonal green beans came with garlic and shallots and toasted almonds on top and sounded spectacular, but it came with only almonds to our disappointment. But it was still good! It was better than the steak sadly. Our server was amazing, the atmosphere was phenomenal! The Mac and cheese was even good! But the lobster was so dry and chewy.. it’s like they missed the butter all together. I highly recommend bowdies to a lot of people.. but i do not recommend the Grand Rapids location unless you want mediocre steaks. I urge you to give the lansing location a chance, the chef’s just know what they’re doing & make you feel like your money was worth the spend.

Out of all of the high-end steakhouses in Grand Rapids, this is by far the best. We started out with the shrimp bisque, and it was excellent. I ordered the filet and it was the best steak I have had in my entire life. My husband isn’t a huge steak person so he made the mistake of getting salmon. It was good, but it was salmon that you could get at any restaurant. Get steak if you are coming here. The filet was 10 ounces and seasoned perfectly. It literally melted in my mouth. We also got Brussels and bellies. They were fantastic. I forgot to add that they start you off with bread and butter and it is very good. It was my birthday so I got something chocolate, but I can’t remember what it was. It was a slice of rich chocolate with ice cream on top and chocolate syrup over it. I wasn’t hungry enough for too much, but I knew my husband would gladly eat what I didn’t. I am not a big chocolate person, but it was good and my husband said it was amazing. Service was fantastic from the time we entered until the time we left. As far as the cost, it is expensive and you should know that and expect that when you come to eat here, but there our ways to make it a little less expensive. They have steaks that are large enough to split and the appetizer is also big enough to split. Overall, we had a great experience and we will be back. For us, this is a once or twice a year treat. We were just there at the end of December and I’m already ready to go back again, but trying to wait a little bit. Go now if you love steak and you haven’t been!

My husband and I just recently went here for date night and we loved it! Our steak was cooked perfectly, the sides were amazing even down to pit broccolini – I don’t think I have ever had veggies cooked to perfection the way these were! Our waitress was very attentive, knowledgeable and we had amazing service altogether. We will most likely be back as it was so nice to be at a restaurant that took pride in what they were serving.

Easily one of the best steakhouses in the country, not just Michigan.

Steaks and sides are always cooked perfectly. The service is always 5 stars.

Highly recommend

The customer service (Lisa was our waitress) and level of care and detail here is phenomenal. My first experience last year was unreal. This time they cooked our filet mignons to perfection, but my partner’s tasted like absolute char. She ordered the lobster mac instead and it was delivered very quickly and tasted great. Our bone marrow took a little longer than expected to come out, which we didn’t mind or think twice about, yet they still gave us a shrimp cocktail on the house. They also took the bone marrow off the tab, and obviously charged us for the lobster mac and waved her steak. It is not the mistakes that define you, but how you handle them, and it was done very professionally. We left happy and satisfied, and I plan on returning for more and recommending this establishment to anyone looking for an elegant place to celebrate something special.
