⭐️⭐️ (2/5 stars)
We came to *Bout Time Pub & Grub* in Arvada for a Tuesday night date to play **Forbidden Bingo**, which is advertised to start at 8 PM. Unfortunately, the experience was uncomfortable and disappointing from start to finish.
We arrived around 7:30 PM and were not greeted by staff. Out of only two standard-height tables, one was taken and the other was reserved, so we had no choice but to sit at a high-top table — not ideal or comfortable for bigger guests like my partner and me. The space was very cramped, and I was constantly getting bumped by people behind me. The table and chairs were also wobbly and in poor condition.
To make matters worse, **the bar was freezing cold inside**. My partner and I were both wearing hoodies and still shivering throughout the night. I get that it was cold outside, but the inside of a restaurant shouldn’t feel like you’re sitting outdoors.
The **bingo experience** itself wasn’t great either. The hosts showed up late and started the game late. They did announce rules, but it was impossible to hear anything over the loud music and general crowd noise — and no effort was made to quiet the room. The hosts didn’t engage with tables or create any kind of welcoming environment. One host in particular (with a mohawk) came across as standoffish and unapproachable.
On top of that, the bingo hosts kept **fishing for tips** — walking around with a tip jar, asking at every table. As someone who performs for tips, I found it really off-putting. If people want to tip, they will. It shouldn’t feel like someone’s begging at a stoplight.
Then came the **food — easily the worst part** of the night:
* The **pizza** was dry and flavorless — like cardboard.
* The **pretzel appetizer** was overcooked, burnt, and rock hard.
* The **Irish nachos** were burnt and had no flavor.
* Only the **Monte Cristo appetizer** was somewhat decent.
Our server was new and clearly trying her best. We waited to speak to another staff member who was kind and understanding. She agreed the food wasn’t up to standard and comped the pizza and nachos, which we appreciated. That’s the only reason this review gets 2 stars instead of 1.
What’s really disappointing is that I’ve been to **two other Bout Time locations** and had **phenomenal food and service** every time. This location just did not deliver — we left cold, hungry, and frustrated.
Unless major improvements are made, we won’t be back.

The servers and bartenders always do a great job even though it’s always really busy.
I didn’t rate 5 stars because we have eatten the food serveral times and it’s always super bland and/or dry.
Last week we got the Monte Cristo eggrolls and couldn’t finish one piece of it because of how dried out it was. We will continue coming for BINGO and shot specials.
Very KID friendly.
Our family will be back soon.
