My husband stopped here at the recommendation of his coworker. He told me about it and how much it had impressed him. I was off from work and we drove to it for lunch. The owner was talking to me and I was deciding between the brisket or a burger. He got to describing his burger and I decided to try it. Hubby got the brisket. The owner made some suggestions on cheese type and I went with it. I usually stick to American. I got pepper jack this time. The burger was not frozen and when it was finished it was not well done but more of a medium to medium well. I was alright with this. The first bite was awesome! I gave hubby a bite and it was not what he expected. He was surprised. The brisket was wonderful as well. Those cheesy potatoes….oh dear me! She gave me a sample taste and that was definitely one of my sides. The beans were actually good. Not too much but just right for taste and texture. Overall, my first visit will definitely not be my last. The place is a little ways out of town but we’ll worth the ride out. Desert would have been an Amish fried pie but I was stuffed. Maybe next time.

Absolutely phenomenal BBQ experience. I ordered the sampler with ribs, brisket, and pulled pork with 2 sides—and every bite was outstanding. The ribs and brisket in particular were next-level: tender, flavorful, and smoked to perfection. Easily some of the best I’ve had anywhere.
The staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable. They didn’t just serve great food—they shared great conversation, especially about local bourbon distilleries, which added a personal touch to the visit.
If you’re anywhere near Springfield, KY, this spot is a must. Great food, great people, and a true taste of Kentucky hospitality.

If you’re ever traveling down Bardstown Rd. you MUST stop at Bourbon Trail BBQ. The brisket is incredible and so flavorful, the pulled pork is fantastic, the burgers are top notch, and the cheesy potatoes are some of the best I’ve had.
And what’s the best way to try them all? The Texas Burger. Originally I didn’t want the coleslaw (usually not a fan) but wow even that was delicious.
The staff is so friendly and love giving out samples to help you pick what you like. Highly recommend this restaurant!

On our way to Springfield to visit the new Potter Jane Distillery and noticed Bourbon Trail BBQ. Decided to stop on the way out to check it out. It wasn’t very busy (weird time of day to eat lunch – 3:00). Immediately greeted by the Owners who could not have been more friendly. Placed our order and ate in the seats in front of the deli counter. Good was OUTSTANDING!!! James came out to chat and after a bit left to bring us a sample of the pulled pork, which was the one meat our group didn’t order! Everything was great, we couldn’t say enough good things about both the food and the hospitality!!! Must stop on your way out to Springfield!

WOW – all I can say! My husband and I stopped in here after catering a wedding in Springfield. We are from Louisville and have had plenty of BBQ, but nothing can beat this place!
We had the brisket sandwich with the cheesy potatoes (Y U M), cucumber and onions (unbelievable), and baked beans as sides. I was floored. Everything was SO good and made with so much love, care, and expertise.
This joint is owned and operated by a husband and wife duo. They were so kind – we spent a lot of time sharing our live’s stories. This restaurant is a perfect example as to why small businesses are crucial to a small town. Bourbon Trail BBQ has created a space where family and friends can gather, build relationships, spend time with the owners, all while being served delicious food.
Even being an hour away, we feel confident we will be back soon. 10 stars. Absolutely perfection. ♥️

Amazing food, taste, service, cheese, local beer. How is this place not famous!? Seriously, try their Reaper and Ghost cheeses. Their Texas Burger is MASSIVE and delicious. I had the brisket sandwich with potato salad and BBQ beans and holy moly, it was Delicious!!! Definitely coming back here on my next trip to the Bourbon Trail.

We drove over an hour just to try this BBQ and I’m sure glad we did! My husband and I shared the Sampler and ordered extra sides. All the food was delicious and the ribs were the best I’ve ever tasted. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Be sure to try the Cheesy Potatos!

Best food in Bardstown! After a hot day of bourbon tours and tastings, this was like an oasis in the desert of Kentucky! Most of our party got the Texas burger and it was the best sandwich we have ever had! Everything was delicious and the staff was super friendly and kept checking on us. Great southern hospitality and amazing food! Don’t pass this place without stopping!
