We were recommended to Bourbon after eating dinner at a different location the night before. Our waitstaff at the other location had recommended we try here.

The atmosphere is great. The food was good, although a little spicy to my wife’s taste. The bourbon drinks were fabulous!

Unfortunately, the service was poor. Colin really struggled. We couldn’t get our water refilled, and my second drink arrived long after we were done eating.

While they were busy, we arrived fairly early on a Saturday evening, at about 5 PM, so I would’ve thought that the staffing would’ve accommodated better service.

Exceptional spot for a craft cocktail in Columbia.

While in town for an evening, my fiance and I stopped in for a nightcap. We were directed to the cocktail lounge entrance towards the corner. Perfect elevated spot for a date

Drinks ordered: Heart of Darkness $17 – Woodford Reserve Double Oaked, Hoodoo Chicory, Thai tea syrup, burlesque and hellfire bitters, and the glass being infused with hickory smoke. — More smokey and strong, with the Thai tea syrup not making it sweet-centric, just accentuated. Also, I ordered The Mangrove $15 – Mango pink peppercorn, Mezcal, mango oleo, lime, cilantro oil. — Overall sweeter mezcal margarita. Was hoping for more a more prominent cilantro presence and earthiness, but understandly accept it could discourage others not ready for it. I was still entirely satisfied with my drink and the atmosphere, especially for the same price point as some of the weaker cocktail menus in the vacinity.

Highly recommend for some intentional while affordable drinks. The vibe is warm and inviting! Stop by while in Columbia, SC.

It’s actually two establishments, food + drinks and the other side is drinks + apps. Smart concept. No reservations. We happily waited at the bar next door and sampled some amazing Bourbon… go figure. Knowledgeable staff. Cozy yet swanky atmosphere. I ordered a sandwich that was a fusion between Creole and Vietnamese fried chicken… I can’t get the flavor out of my head! So so good.

Amazing food and ambience with great service. Portion sizes might be a bit small but pack a punch flavor wise. Ordered the gumbo and it was undoubtedly one of the best gumbos I’ve ever had. Staff is really helpful and attentive. Ambience is great and they do play really great songs. Overall, a really great place with great food.

Do yourself a favor and go to this place! It’s exceptionally good. Cajun style food that’s out of this world. Forget about the franchise food places you can get anytime back home, they suck! When in Columbia, South Carolina, go to the Bourbon restaurant.

I got a pickup order of the gumbo and this was such a laughably small portion for $23. At least give more rice to make it seem like more food. It didn’t taste good enough for make up for it either, I should’ve just gotten a burger.

Drinks. Service. Vibes. Everything that you could hope for in an elevated bar experience. Went for happy hour and it was incredible. Make a reservation if you want to go on the weekend. Plenty of bar seating if you forget. Don’t skip out on grabbing a cigar for the patio !

Phoenix made our dinner at Bourbon absolutely unforgettable!!! She was a shining star during our weekend in Columbia. Not only did she give the best recommendations but she was an absolute pleasure to yap with.

As for the food, Phoe put us on to the best plates we could have asked for: the smoked pork and the étouffée. Both were cooked to perfection and had mesmerizing flavor. The smoked pimento cheese dip (pictured) was also a fantastic starter. As for drinks, we recommend the sunset tico—tequila and passion fruit is an undefeated combo. We would have taken more photos, but we ate too fast!
