Our server was Italian and he was so sweet. We ordered the snails and they were actually pretty good. I got the beef bavette with pepper sauce and while the sauce was tasty, the meat was very chewy. The chicken schnitzel was okay too. The wine and the spicy margarita were both really good though.
Overall, a nice spot to unwind after the market with good drinks and a cozy atmosphere.
The food is consistently fantastic – I hadn’t visited for a while as I live abroad now but, another friend is moving away so we had her ‘f off London’ lunch here and I was delighted to be back.
The decor is beyond, and it’s been gas to see the candle wall growing over the years.
Service is always great, again, never encountered any staff who weren’t friendly, efficient and all round lovely.
Interesting and decently priced wine list, also good range of beers.
I saw on the AI overview some people said it’s overpriced which I find ridiculous. This is CENTRAL LONDON, and I find the prices very reasonable especially for the quality you get (and small plates actually aren’t!). Try living in Luxembourg, Dublin, Singapore then talk to me about expensive…
Anyway, getting off topic. I’ve written a bit of an essay here but BB is, was, and probably always will be pretty perfect.
(Sadly no pix of the men’s bathroom but I’m sure there are some in here and if I some from previous visits, I’ll post!).
The team were lovely, the food was delicious, and the interior had very cool decor. Especially the bathroom!
It was a little pricey for small dishes, but my friend and I enjoyed it, so it was worth it.
They accidentally added a bottle of wine to our bill, which I realised after we had paid, and they were apologetic and refunded us immediately.
For two drinks, four tapas, and two desserts, it was around £140.
Would recommend and will return.
I ordered a classic burger and chips (has to be ordered separately) possibly a bad choice for a French restaurant but just what I fancied after a busy active day and limited food. The burger meat was half the circumference of the bun so having eaten it I was left with half a bun or sauce and half the slice of the tomato to eat. The chips were almost inedible. In seasoned and strangely hollow and over cooked. On arrived they looked crispy but the taste was absent. No offer of any condiments with any of the food I had to ask for some salt. My partner returned hers as they were so bad and I ate about half of the small portion you get which is a shock as I never leave chips. After we complained the waiter removed one portion from the bill.
The honesty of the waiter when I tried to order a pint of Diet Coke he gave fair warning this would be £7. Needless to say I opted to not order that and ask for a standard which was still £3.50 and as I asked for no ice the glass came part filled only which was disappointing.
The only saviour of this meal was the amazing chocolate fondant that we ordered which was incredible and I would return for this but never main again.
The atmosphere was as described a bit chaotic but seemed nice and not too noisy but not dead either.
Finally bill was over £77 and having left i went out and bought something to eat as still felt hungry. Very disappointed.
Their toilet another part of amazing experience.
Thank you very much for great evening
The menu is a chaotic symphony of glorious French indulgence. We tried to be sensible and order “just a few tapas plates” but the charcuterie board winked at us and the duck rillettes practically leapt onto the table. Before long it was a full-blown food affair—mussels swimming in garlic and smugness, beef bavette that was so tender it nearly brought a tear to the eye, and a risotto so creamy it could double as skincare.
Service was friendly and just the right amount of French nonchalance. The staff looked like they’d just walked off a modelling shoot but still managed to carry ten plates and throw in a wine recommendation that knocked our socks off. Also, shout out to the bar which had more bottles than a baby convention and an espresso machine that seemed to take itself extremely seriously.
We sat under a massive Vedett umbrella with wine in hand, surrounded by cheery humans and dangerously good cheese, while trains thundered past above us like some kind of urban soundtrack. Honestly, it’s romantic in a “we might be underneath a bridge but there’s truffle fries” kind of way.
Boro Bistro is chaotic, charming, slightly eccentric, and absolutely brilliant. Go hungry, go thirsty, and whatever you do, don’t wear anything tight-fitting.
