The staff were nice and it wasn’t super busy. The location is ideal as the tobacco district is a pretty and walkable area.
The food is pretty good, the biggest problem for us was the portion sizes. The amount of food you get is quite small for the price you pay. We were both left hungry at the end of our meal.
I ordered the soul bowl with garlic shrimp. It was very good and the fried plantains plus the Mac and cheese were great sides.
My wife got some empanadas which she liked as well.
If the portion sizes were bigger this would be a 5 star review for sure!

Best Puerto Rican restaurant in NC! Tried a range across the menu and literally everything was delicious, but my favourite was the soul bowl – made with arroz con gandules, tostones, collards, mac and cheese, and pernil. It was super generous in size and hit every flavour note – especially with the house made sauces. The empanadas were awesome too. Staff couldn’t have been nicer. Can’t wait to go back.

I absolutely loved my experience at Boricua Soul! From the moment I walked in, the warm, inviting atmosphere and the friendly, attentive staff made me feel right at home. Everyone was so kind and helpful, ready to answer questions and make great recommendations.

The food was incredibly fresh and seasoned perfectly — you can truly taste the love and authenticity in every bite. Each dish had that perfect balance of flavor that reminded me so much of Puerto Rico. The flavors took me straight back to the island — comforting, soulful, and made with care.

The restaurant itself was clean, bright, and welcoming, with a laid-back vibe that fits perfectly into the American Tobacco Campus setting. You can tell the team here takes pride not just in the food, but in creating a positive experience for every guest.

Whether you’re craving something that brings you closer to home or just looking for amazing Puerto Rican-inspired dishes, this is the place to be. I’ll definitely be coming back — everything about it made me smile and feel that island soul!

I had this spot saved on my maps for want to go in hopes that one day I will go. Today was the day and only cause I had to drive out to Greensboro. I ordered the chicken pinchos that come with the rice n gandules, the boricua soul, and the platter with chicken bites and OMG everything was so delicious. I highly recommend this spot. As a Puerto Rican, I approve.

The flavor profile of the pernil (roast pork) was spot on. The tostones (fried green plantains) were fresh, crispy and well seasoned. The empanadas were stuffed full and flavorful. The service was great. We arrived very close to closing time so it was fairly empty and the staff was sorta cleaning up for the night. I highly recommend trying this place if (like me) you need an occasional trip back to Boricua cooking, bit with a little soul. The prices were reasonable as the portions were generous.

Closest thing to Puerto Rican food that I’ve had in this area. The food was hot and flavorful and portion size was on point. I also tried their strawberry and peach lemonade. I would definitely be back to try their other selections.

The place is a little bit tricky to find but the street signage does what it can to try and navigate you to the establishment. Inside is a cozy vibe with nice murals and enough seating to enjoy dining in.

I tried The Platter (Chicharonnes de Pollo and Pernil) and empanadas. The collard greens were spicy which I liked, plantains were cooked to perfection, and the beef empanadas were delicious, crispy, and not too greasy. The Chicharonnes de Pollo and Pernil lacked some seasoning in my opinion but weren’t terrible.

The service was great and didn’t take long. I’d come back to try the sweet potato empanada since they were sold out the night I visited. 7/10 overall.

The food and atmosphere is PERFECT! We went on a Friday night and the owners were actually in there working and acknowledging customers ! The food was a 10 out of 10. We had 5 wings and the basket with the pork, greens and the Mac and cheese (and maybe it had rice also) everything was so flavorful. I love that the restaurant is modern, tap to pay and you can order from the kiosk or the QR code on the table . The location is great and very lively!

I cannot say enough good things about this place, yall. My husband and I ate here for the first time tonight and it was the BEST meal I’ve had in a long time. It’s small inside but plenty of outdoor seating at American Tobacco. We ordered 2 empanadas (1 beef, 1 chicken), the Boricua Soul Bowl with Chicharonnes de pollo, a half order of the mac fry pile with Pernil (pork) and shared everything. I can’t even pick a favorite. Every single thing was flavorful, cooked to perfection, and delicious. As in, I have never enjoyed collards despite trying them every time my husband orders them – and I ate half of our serving this time. The Pernil with the fries was perfection, but if you aren’t feeling something that heavy/loaded the bowl was also super good. AND, the people were SO nice y’all. That food would bring me back but the service/obvious joy they had for serving people their food makes me want to tell literally everyone.

The food is decent. I love all the options but I think the food was too greasy for me. But that’s cause it was fried. But regardless the atmosphere is great. And while I did wait a bit for a to go order it all worked out as I got to sit and enjoy the atmosphere
