Established in 2006, nestled by the entrance to Mallard Creek Golf Course in Columbia Station, Bootleggers Bar & Grille casts a nod to the days of prohibition where friends huddled in rustic cellars to enjoy the latest spirits trucked in by local Bootleggers.
During Prohibition, the manufacture, transportation, import, export, and sale of alcoholic beverages were restricted or illegal. Prohibition was supposed to lower crime, corruption, and reduce social problems in America. Instead, Alcohol became the driving force that transformed the entertainment landscape in America. It gave birth to the speakeasy and the bootleggers themselves paved the way for automobile road and track races.

My husband and I decided to give this place a try after being in the area. We were seated as soon as we walked in. We didn’t wait long for our drinks and appetizers to come- we ordered pretzel bites and I had a side salad. The salad was a decent size and the pretzel bites were good. My husband ordered the Saturday special of full ribs and I had the grilled chicken philly. Both were pretty good. I wasn’t a fan of the shoestring fries that came with my meal- they weren’t very filling nor did they give me many of them. Next time, I will ask for something different. The service was great. I can’t remember the young mans name who served us, but he was super friendly. This is a nice little establishment. The bonus is that they have an outdoor seating area that overlooks a pond.

Great menu selection with some vegetarian choices.. I was going to try the Beercheese soup but it unfortunately has bacon already mixed in so I got the Terriaki Bowl sans chicken instead. It was very good. I also had a house salad with the spicy thai peanut dressing which was very good. My husband got the Caribbean Jerk chicken bowl that he really enjoyed. The provolone cheese sticks were delicious. We sat on the patio/deck right next to a small pond containing a huge amount of koi & we enjoyed listening to the bullfrogs making their honking calls. Edited to add we also enjoyed the brownie topped with ice-cream for dessert, it was ginormous & delicious!

I had a mushroom and swiss burger, very good. Our sever was attentive with our food coming faster than expected. The atmosphere was awesome. We were about 12 feet away from the fireplace and loved it.

Been there 5 times now, and the food has been great every single time. I love the fireplace. The mobster stuff is cool.
Service has been solid, and if you are more introverted, this is a great atmosphere for that. Only knock there is the staff sometime being on their phones, but that is an issue most everywhere unfortunately.
The atmosphere all around has always been inviting. I could do without the Keno stuff.
All in all I’m gonna be coming to this place at least once a month. Thank you for all the hard work there!

Chips and dip yummy. Onion soup good, hamburger fine, only 2 choices of how they are cooked. Southwest egg rolls not good. Excellent waitress, festive atmosphere.

Disappointing…
Last Sunday we were in the area and wanted ribs. Usual places closed so we searched our phones and bootleggers came up. First time there. Very nice staff and liked the atmosphere. Got 2 slabs to go. Unfortunately this was Sunday because Saturday night was rib night. Our ribs were at least a day old and overcooked. I’m guessing they were reheated under a broiler because one of the slabs was burnt and inedible. The other I gave to my son, who will eat anything.
So my wife and I had to scrounge up some leftovers.
I prefer my ribs smoked but my mom always made pretty damn good ones in the oven, so it can be done.

Pleasantly surprised with this Bar & Grill. To be honest we were just passing by. We thought it would be an excellent moment to purchase an appetizer and use the restroom. When we looked at the menu it was interesting. They had Cobb Salad!!! So I had to try it. Thankfully they substituted the blue cheese for feta cheese. That was such a plus. My husband had the chicken wings dry rub with blue cheese dressing. The food was excellent. The presentation of the salad was fantastic.
The young lady who was our server was so kind. You can see her smile via her eyes. Of course she wore a mask. The table had a 8×11 sheet about best practices in a restaurant during COVID-19. It was very interesting read .
There is a golf course behind the restaurant and an outdoor patio from what I can see. This is definitely a place I will recommend when getting together with a few family members.
