Boombots Pasta is the newest concept from the team behind Odie B’s, and it brings a fresh, playful take on homemade pasta to Sunnyside.
This isn’t traditional Italian comfort pasta. It’s creative, unexpected, and leans into bold ideas. I enjoyed some dishes more than others, but everything felt thoughtful and intentional rather than safe.
What truly stood out for me, though, were the mozzarella sticks. They were next level. Extremely gooey, perfectly fried, and easily the best mozzarella sticks I’ve had. I would go back just for those alone.
The atmosphere is relaxed and fun, and the menu feels like it’s meant to be enjoyed without overthinking it. Boombots doesn’t try to be serious or precious, and that works in its favor.
Overall, it’s a solid spot for fresh pasta with personality, plus a few standout items that make the visit memorable. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Absolutely highly recommend. Happy hour is absolutely fantastic, yes, even the pasta water martini. It tasted like the ultimate dirty Martini with more depth. They even have fresh oysters!!! All of the pasta dishes are so fresh and absolutely delicious. Get the mozzarella stick. The dirty Martini bucatini and duck lumache were absolutely to die for. Highly recommend for causal dinner or a date.

This place was a 100/10!!! Got the beet salad (10/10), mozz sticks (10/10), stroganoff (10/10), samosa pasta (10/10), and dirty martini pasta (1,000/10)! The apple tart was an amazing dessert as well but the show stopper on that was the ice cream it comes with! The service was exceptional, the food was incredible, the vibes were immaculate, oh yeah and for mocktails you have to try the red bell pepper celery salt drink it was to die for! Can’t wait to come back and try the duck pasta and the risotto !!!

Really impressed with this new Italian restaurant by the same owners who brought us the breakfast/lunch spot Odie B’s (literally next door in the Sunnyside neighborhood). Executive Chef Cliff Blauvelt understands flav-or! He’s highly creative, but stays grounded in technique and honest ingredients crafting dishes you’re undoubtedly going to crave and keep coming back for.
Ambiance is so vibey. Modern and sleek but somehow cozy and comfortable. Service is also on point.
I’ve already recommended this place on repeat. Enjoy!

You know what I hate? I hate getting excited for a place and then it lets you down. You look at the menu online, you get pumped, and then something with the atmosphere, food, or service disappoints. Well, that did NOT happen for this place fortunately. And I was very excited to check the place out over the last few weeks. I am a pasta guy. Anyway, although we only dipped our toes in the pool (only did happy hour, and not pasta yet), I was extremely pleased with Visit #1 of many. Their happy hour is unique and quite a value. First of all, you have me at hello with any IPA for $6 at happy hour. You have me fully at hello when that IPA is a West Coast IPA in a 16-ounce draft glass. That is a DEAL for craft beer drinkers (and PLEASE don’t take that off the happy hour menu). They also had other creative things on the happy hour menu. Mini martini, pasta water, spaghett style, the IPA, no double digits in price on a wine pour, oysters (both West Coast and East Coast before you ask), mixed nuts, a meat and cheese plate, two salads (I will never eat a salad at happy hour, so just know that for future review hopes), etc. We are bar seat people always, and Kristoff (forgive me if that spelling is incorrect) was our bartender who gave us efficient service, attentive answers to my many questions about the place, and just an overall pleasant demeanor. Perfect service. The wife got three oysters and we shared the meat and cheese plate. She said the oysters were awesome (I am not an oyster person and couldn’t tell you good and bad on that front), and the meat and cheese plate was simple, yet effective. Their fig add was a syrup, which was a new twist, and FINALLY a meat and cheese plate has enough bread for the ornaments. Both were great values, and extremely tasty. We thought the place just happened to be next to another one of our favorite places, Odie B’s, but it actually is the same owner and they share the kitchen space. Apparently, the art gallery closed, and the owner of Odie B’s decided to put this former pop-up place in as brick and mortar. Glad they made that brilliant decision. Once I put that together and got the history, the background music made sense. We always loved Odie B’s for its energy and random background music, and our visit got the same thing for our ears. Today, it sounded like a James Brown station with maximum variety modifier of that genre. Knowing Odie B’s, I assume the next music choice during our visit will be something totally else, but still fun. It is a good sign when you are already checking out the menu for your next visit, and we did that. My wife has already claimed the Dirty Martini Bucatini (also recommended by Kristoff), and I will be engaging with the Smoked Duck item that was leadoff hitter on the pasta menu. Note that they also have seasonal menu changes and regular specials they post on IG. Although I admittedly have not had a pasta there yet and I am reviewing a pasta place (sort of ironic), I loved the vibe of this place already. Glad we have a new neighborhood favorite, I highly recommend, and see you there…

Truly one of the most incredible meals I’ve ever eaten! The ginormous mozzarella sticks are divine! The duck pasta was heaven and the apple tart with pecan ice cream was a surprise hit as well. Combine this with excellent service and I know why this place is quickly full. Come early or be prepared to wait because the secret is out about this awesome new restaurant!

Small spot with poor signage (2/5) but solid pasta. They have some weird protocol of requiring drinks before you sit (2/5) which is annoying and in my experience unnecessary. Booze selection is good (4/5); servers were friendly but could have described plates better (3/5). Tried the butternut squash risotto (4/5) which was solid but I think they could lean into the spice by at least an additional 20%. Partner had the samosa pasta dish which was excellent (5/5). The dessert apple tart was also good (4/5) with amazing icecream (5/5) and some sort of spicy caramel sauce (5/5). Would love to see another dish with that icecream and caramel sauce. Maybe some creative variation on a banana split? Will definitely try again and consider an upgrade.

We had an impromptu date night and this spot was SO GOOD Every bite of the House Salad was amazing, and the croutons, yummmm The stroganoff was an amazing spin on the classic. Green Chili Lumache was flavorful and the duck was delicious, perfection. Wine was great and the team was on it with all the things, 10/10 hospitality. Also, the design and atmosphere were so well done.
Thank you Boombots team for a wonderful night out!

Came for happy hour into an early dinner and would recommend grabbing a reservation beforehand. Loved the house salad, mozz stick, and the bucatini! Service was a bit slow despite being at the bar but would come again to try different items.

Two words: GO NOW. This isn’t your gramama’s Italian restaurant, and that’s exactly the point. What Chef + his team is doing results in wild, creative flavor combos from all over the world while still being the pasta we all know and love. It’s playful, it’s unexpected, and honestly? It’s the most fun I’ve had at dinner in ages. The vibe, design, team, cocktail program (HELLOOOOO Pasta Water Martini) and wine list are all 10/10. Boombots is my new favorite recommendation for those looking for something fun, delicious and unlike anything else in this city.
