Bookstore was a decent spot to grab a beer on a surprisingly busy weekday. The space inside was large but pretty sparsely decorated for the theme (empty book shelves etc.) I think the place was under staffed or under prepared for the amount of folks there (low on glasses for example.) Can’t say I’d go out of my way to come back.

We stopped in here for a quick drink after doing an underground tour on a Sunday in August. We were on foot so we picked it from the map based on where we were at the time and the direction were heading.

We sat at the bar and the bartender was with us quickly. There were not many others at the bar but we couldn’t really see the dining area so I’m not sure how crowded they get.

The drinks were great and the bartender was friendly and attentive. There happened to be a bridal party all dressed as David Bowie enjoying beverages while we were there – sorry no pic but their outfits were fantastic! That contributed to the upbeat and lively atmosphere.

We didn’t eat anything so I can’t comment on the food but the menu looked good.

Drink prices were comparable to other similar places we have been. Not sure on the parking situation, we walked from our hotel.

Decent hotel restaurant food and selection.

I’ve seen this place for years and always thought the bookstore setting was cool, but had never gone in.

Finally gave it a try one evening and had a Cesar salad and the royal smash burger.

Salad had plenty of Parmesan. Every bite had some which was great. They brought out my burger when I had just started on the salad, so to keep the burger from getting cold I had to alternate plates and that did dampen the vibe of my dining experience. Felt a bit rushed because of that. Although it wasn’t the waiter’s fault since another person brought it out too early.

Regardless, the burger had flavor, was tasty, but the bottom got soggy pretty quickly. Maybe because it was medium rare idk. Royal fries were tasty and perfectly crispy.

The bartender / waiter was very attentive and friendly.

Overall, food was decent, service was great, vibes weren’t bad. I probably won’t go out of my way to return but the food hits the spot if you’re hungry and close by.

They automatically add 5% gratuity, which I am completely fine with. I just thought the explanation on the receipt was a somewhat laughable, “To support our house staff with the minimum wage law.” So basically the restaurant does not find supporting their staff and the minimum wage law important enough to use their own money or to provide a suitable wage, instead they are going to force their customers to do it for them? I just thought that was a weird way to word it. They should just add gratuity if they are trying to make up for paying low wages and leave it at that.

The service was really good. The wonderful ladies working the bar did excellent. The food was pretty good, nothing great. Not sure I would go out of my way to eat there again. I read similar reviews on the food, but tried it out of convenience while staying at the hoel.

Made a reservation here to celebrate my boyfriends birthday, a convenient location across the street from the hotel we stayed at. The atmosphere was really nice with the books and pictures, however there was no one at the host stand when we arrive for dinner, and no posted signage about seating ourselves so we stood awkwardly looking around until a bartender caught our eye and said we could sit wherever.

We picked a table in the back room and our server promptly greeted us. We got waters quickly and put in our food order. It wasn’t very busy, only one other table had people in that room, but the food took a good while to come out. Not too long, but it was odd considering we ordered the bread to share as an appetizer, but it came out at the same time as our entrees.

The bread was VERY crunchy. It tasted good, and i love crusty bread, but it was a bit too much even for me.

The fish and chips was really good. The fish was juicy and crisp, and the fries were tasty. The burger was fine. Nothing amazing but it was tasty and that’s all we really wanted. We asked for it medium and it came out a perfect medium.

Service felt a bit disjointed and I had to flag down our server for the bill even tho only one other table had sat down. I was surprised when they didn’t ask if we wanted to order dessert and there hadn’t been any mention of the birthday.

I would give it another shot on a more casual outing, my boyfriend definitely wouldn’t give it another shot. A bit of a mixed bag, so 3 stars.

Larry provided fantastic service and made a mean drink in a wonderful and cozy setting, perfect place to warm up on a dreary January Seattle evening. The food was fantastic and had lots of options for a vegetarian, the drink Larry made was delicious and crafted beautifully, highly recommend stopping by!

The espresso martini Johnathan made for me was delicious! House made baileys, well done! I had the chicken tacos, loaded tots, and layered cake, very satisfied. Cute bookstore atmosphere, a great place to enjoy my book and have dinner after a work shift.

This is a wonderful classy, quiet restaurant with some amazing adult beverages. I really enjoyed this quiet spot to pause, relax and have a bite & a beverage. The Flat liner Espresso Martini is a must! And the shoestring fries were *perfectly* seasoned.

When open it’s good but inconsistant hours. Stopped by twice while staying here and they were closing 20 minutes early. Understand last call but if you’re staying at the hotel and they advertise opening hours they should be honored.

Had 2 experiences here on a recent trip. Breakfast was pretty good. Avocado toast (minus pick de Gallo) is on pointe! They do not know how to make an over medium egg however. Coffee is strong. Breakfast wait staff is MIA a lot which is strange since it’s a small joint. Went back for evening drinks. Whisky menu lives up to its hype. They made me a mean old fashioned and another cocktail, which want quite “craft” but I’ll take it. Whisky flights are on the docket for next trip. Bartender and evening wait staff were friendly and attentive. Try the carrot cake. It’s special, and that’s saying a lot for carrot cake. Ginger jam and grapefruit preserves elevate this typically bland and dry desert to something you crave again the next day.
