Highly recommend if you are gluten free and looking for fried chicken or a beignet alternative! I got the GF chicken & waffles and it was so tasty. I also tried the gumbo, alligator bites and Calas (all gluten free!). We liked everything we got. Also the service was great and it was perfect weather to sit on the patio. Such a lovely location and view.

Cool spot to try some of the southern food while being gluten free!
Starting with the negative, calas were disappointing. Very dense and had whole pieces of rice inside.
But! Gumbo was soooo tasty and the chicken and waffles were simply outstanding! Will come back next time we are in New Orleans!

I wish I could give Bons 100 stars!! I am celiac, and not only is finding a restaurant with gluten-free food hard, but it is even harder to find GOOD gluten-free food. I have never been to a restaurant with so many gf choices. I ordered the pork tacos, fried gator bites, and chicken and waffles. Every bite was phenomenal. I wish a Bons would open up where I live and I would go everyday.

This place has a wonderful selection of locally inspired offerings! Lots of them are gluten free as well. One of my family members suffers from Celiac so it was a blessing to have GF beignets from here. The gumbo tacos are a must. We also had pork tacos, gator bites, duck bombs (so good), chicken & waffles and more. Plenty of outdoor seating and right across from Jackson Park. John gave us excellent service and took great care of us. Shout out to you, John! Karen, our walking tour guide, recommended this place and she’s right (as usual). Try this place, especially if you have Celiac.

Gumbo tacos… not sure why this is not more popular, but rest assured they should be! The chicken and waffles were so good! The breading on the fried chicken was fine and perfectly crispy. Quick service and great location listening to street performances while you chow down on good food!

Had the alligator bites along with the crawfish beignets. I have to admit, the food was heavy-handed on the salty side. It was hard to experience the flavor. The beignets had two small chunks of what I believe was to be the crawfish. The crawfish flavor was more in the sauce. A bit disappointing. It was definitely overpriced for the portion sizes and the experience. The positive was the friendly staff.

This place is awesome! Got to chat with the owner and while they did not set out to be such a a staple for the gluten free peeps, they are knowledgeable on safety and have MANY delicious options. You know it’s good when non-celiacs love it! The calas are soooo good, I could not get enough of the tacos, great atmosphere, friendly and delicious. An absolute MUST when visiting New Orleans.

Interesting food. Almost street food with a twist. I got shrimp and fried grit bites. Very good and rich flavors. The wife gotten Bananas Foster Beignets and said they were good. All was gluten free! Small indoor seating but larger outdoor area. Good location on Decatur Street. Good for people watching.

A Must-Visit Spot – Especially for Gluten-Free Foodies. It’s such a relief—and a joy—to finally find somewhere that truly caters to those with gluten intolerance. I was able to indulge without worry, and I genuinely appreciate the effort and thoughtfulness that went into making the menu inclusive.
The vibe is super cool and relaxed, with plenty of seating to accommodate large groups comfortably. When we were unexpectedly caught in the rain, the umbrellas provided – were a lifesaver—thoughtful details like that really make a difference.
The food? Absolutely delicious. You can tell there’s real care behind it. And the team behind the counter was fantastic—friendly, helpful, and happy to answer all of our questions.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a place that goes the extra mile for its guests.

Amazing food, wonderful gluten free options of foods one would put on their “must eat in New Orleans” list. I am not one who deals with celiac, but my travel buddy is and we shared all of our food. I would have gladly ordered the gluten free option all day long, it was that good!
Actually chatted with the owner about upcoming menu ideas and how they plan to continue expanding gluten-free offerings. Got to try some pork rinds that I hope wind up on the menu for all to enjoy!
