This place was a great experience; A nostalgic traverse back in time! And 87 year old restaurant where everything is classic, not to mention my hot waitress Leah! The crinkle fries were a perfect, golden brown, accompanied with a good half pound, triple cheese burger and coffee. The gentleman on shift was also very accommodating; the staff worked well together as a team.

Six of us recently dinned in for lunch for a colleagues birthday. The birthday girl chose the venue. I was extremely reluctant considering I do not do fast food/friend food … but I was able to get through the experience thinking about how well preserved the restaurant was to it’s original presence of when I was a kid and came here occasionally after church on a Sunday with my sister and parents. My mom and dad would tell us stories about how the establishment was a popular place to go in the 60s when they were dating in high school and how cheeseburgers only cost a quarter, yada, yada, yada. I do remember they both loved the pork tenderloin sandwich with lettuce, tomato and mayo and friend mushrooms – menu items that still appear today.

Walked in around 1pm and got seated with a party of 5 people. The waitress was friendly. Got our milk shakes in a timely manner and food came out hot. We got cheeseburgers and chicken stripes. Also got cheese fries and cheese/bacon fries. Food was good and we were full when left. They aren’t open year round so get there before end of season on October 30th I believe it is.

Wow what can I say. It really takes you back in time. Who doesn’t love an old car hop? The prices are great & if you order a basket meal, it comes with a drink. I will include the menu so you can check out their prices. They are great in every way! If you are near South Bend, Indiana look them up. So worth it. I recommend the Chicken fingers & fries basket. You can’t go wrong with the burgers either!

This isn’t fast food so don’t expect quick service. There’s several different type of burgers and sandwiches. The onion rings are always perfect! Also the ice cream is amazing. It’s a great place for the family but searing is limited.

Food was amazing. Huge menu so many options, meals and desserts. Fabulous service, quick and friendly. The only complaint, the drive in equipment very rundown and had several broken speakers and such. Hasn’t been updated or painted in about 317 years. Looks like a drive in from fallout….. Lol will definitely go back and highly recommend.

Well I guess they’re famous for ice cream and other unique menu items like Peanut Butter Burgers. I only got a small cup of chili which looked more like a child size cup, was a mess and for the price I could have went to Wendy’s and got better chili. The actual spice flavor was good but I’m surprised that it wasn’t homemade and didn’t have real chunks of vegetables. It doesn’t come with cheese nor was I asked if I wanted cheese on top. The waitress was very nice but unfortunately when I asked if it was homemade chili she said she believed it to be canned and I was like oh my God you’re not supposed to tell me that! I was just wanting a light dinner that day and I was not wanting to try a peanut butter burger at all. I also cannot have cow’s milk ice cream either so I couldn’t even try their ice cream.

Bonnie Doon is a family-friendly classic ice cream shop and drive in diner. An excellent place to take kids and get some food and enjoy the nostalgia of a time that seems to be slowly fading into antiquity. A place to take your classic car and meet others who share in that passion or strike up conversation.
