We joined family for dinner and were impressed. The cocktails were good, the food was amazing and the service was excellent. The prices were maybe more than some other places, but not out of line for what we had. We liked the menu, different items than other places and a good selection. It was a very good evening.

I’ve been here before a few times over the years and have never been super impressed. However, I’m compelled to share my experience from the other night. The food was delicious and the service was just as good. We started with the Maytag Blue chips for an appetizer, and as an avid blue cheese lover, these were heavenly! For my entree I had the blackened salmon and it was honestly some of the best salmon I’ve ever had at a restaurant, and the portion of it was very generous. It came with a creole sauce that paired really well with it. Would definitely come back just for that. I think I was just ordering the wrong things before!

Was worried at first. We showed up and no one was there. But within 20 minutes. The place was packed. Very good server, octopus was delicious! Ribs were great, not fatty or grissel, but meaty & sauce. The seafood trio dish was great as well. Believe it or not, the water was refreshing as well. Not that city water taste.

Not impressed with the food and the cost is outrageous. No bread, no salad unless you buy it additionally for $10. I ordered the $30 rotisserie chicken and it was so dry that the leg couldn’t be eaten. When is dark meat dry? I’ve had better rotisserie chicken from the ones you can get at the grocery store for $7. I chose not to complain, but rather just not to return. I understand that mistakes happen and maybe it’s not always that way, but for the cost they should be on their game with what is being served to avoid issues. I would have gotten a steak, but not for $68 and the other slightly cheaper steak choices were not appealing. We requested fireplace seating with our reservations and the fireplace was “broken” and they sat us in another area not requested, regardless if the fireplace was working that’s not what we had asked for. And we called several days ahead. Our waiter was pleasant, respectful and prompt. I don’t fault him at all for any of the issues. He did his job. I don’t mean to be harsh, but I left there hungry, and honestly they could provide more and do better for their costs.

Came for a friends bday and wanted to try a new place we hadn’t been to before. To start, our server, Madelin, was very sweet but unfortunately a little quiet for my liking. We had some questions throughout the meal and her responses came across as though she was unsure or didn’t really know. She did not refill our waters and overall just didn’t seem very confident in what she was doing. In regard to the food, I ordered the 6 oz filet MW and it came out almost rare. We later noticed that my friend who ordered the same steak but M received my steak and I received hers but the vegetables were mixed up. The twice baked potato also looked as though it had been sitting out and didn’t taste great. Me and all 5 of my friends had severe stomachaches following our meals as well. At the end of the night we asked if they do anything for birthdays and she brought out a 6 mini dessert flight and had us each pick one out, however she failed to mention they were each $5 for everyone. She made it seem as though it was included for the bday so we all picked one but then got our bills and realized it was not free. Not a big deal but lack of transparency. Lastly, we had the server split our bday friends bill into 5 so we each had a share of it but every single one of our bills was incorrect and needed to be fixed so that was an issue at the end of the night. Overall, everything was fine but considering my meal was $70 it definitely wasn’t worth the price.

Nov 2025: Good service, but mixed review on food choices this time. BBQ Baby Back Ribs, the Curry Bowl and the Vegetable Risotto side dish ($6 upcharge) were all excellent and great value choices. On the flipside, the Herb Rotisserie Chicken (Previously a favorite) was so dry we couldn’t eat it and fortunately was taken off our bill. Morts Pot Roast was also pretty disappointing – lots of fat and just lacking pot roast flavor. Jambalaya was a good GF, dairy free option!

Jose, our server, described in detail the specials of the day and brought us a great selection of desert cups to choose from for desert. Fast service too!
Our order consisted of Wood-Fyred Mixed Grille, Prime Sirloin Steak with Asparagus, Wagyu Burger and Fried Fish Tacos. Everything was excellent and prepared correctly. My wife and I shared the Wood-Fyred Mixed Grille and they offered to split it into two plates for us. Serving size was still great! The ribs in the mixed grille were tender and had a wonderful BBQ sauce! We had the cheese curds for our appetizer and they were definitely up to Wisconsin standards!

I received horrible service when I hosted my wedding rehearsal dinner in their private dining room and am extremely disappointed in the awful customer service I received afterwards from Elizabeth and Alfredo. DO NOT host any event at Bonfyre! I booked the room multiple months in advance and communicated with the catering manager to organize the details of the dinner. The catering manager was extremely reassuring that everything would be done according to our discussion, and yet all three things that were pre-discussed were wrong, leading to an unorganized dinner and awful service and resolution. The catering manager confirmed that I wanted the u-shape table setup in the room, that all servers would use my named menu placards to know where each order went (I sent over an organized list for my 26 guests of dinner/salad orders with names a month in advance), and that we would substitute ranch instead of blue cheese on the wedge salad. All three items were WRONG on the night of, even though the catering manager was the one in charge. It became obvious that she had shown false confidence in her emails and had no ability to follow through. She provided nothing but false platitudes.
When we arrived, the tables were in parallel rows instead of the u-shape and my seating chart would no longer work. After some confusion and awkwardness, I asked them to move the tables, which required guests to stand back up and then they didn’t have enough chairs and had to pull over another awkward small table that a couple guests were stuck at at the end. The catering manager, Elizabeth, assured me that they would discount the meal and make up for the initial mistake. This was only the beginning. Then the servers began stopping conversations and asking each of our guests what they wanted to order, even though I had already confirmed that they would note down the names at each chair at the beginning of the night (all guests had a named menu in front of them). I asked one of the servers why they were interrupting and asking what each person wanted when I had sent over the names and orders in advance and was told that they didn’t have those orders and instead just had totals of each entree but not who ordered it. I said that I sent over names and orders beforehand and they said that they didn’t know and they didn’t know where that information was. Again, even though Elizabeth was present she didn’t intervene and didn’t correct it. It took so long for the meals to start coming out due to the mistakes and additional time of needing to take 26 orders (well over 1.5 hrs before any food arrived). Then the salads came out with blue cheese crumbles and dressing, even though they were supposed to have ranch (the only thing I requested changed about the set event menu and had previously been confirmed multiple times). It was just mistake after mistake and it impacted the evening heavily and made it so frustrating and unenjoyable on what should have been an incredibly happy and celebratory weekend.
When I reached out to Elizabeth after the event to share my feedback, she told me that she was sorry but they couldn’t refund or do anything else for me, even though she acknowledged that all of those items were pre-arranged and then ignored. Only a handful of the cheapest drinks were comped (totaling less than $70) and then she said that the owner had approved a refund of the “credit card fee” of $20 for my troubles. Mind you, the bill was over $2k and she offered a “discount” of about 1% even though she messed up every single arranged item of the evening. It was just insulting at that point. I emailed the owner twice over the course of a couple weeks and he ignored me (still no answer from him to this day). It’s clear that Bonfyre has no regard for their guest experience and make no efforts to correct their mistakes. I absolutely DO NOT recommend hosting any event at Bonfyre for any reason! The catering manager is incompetent and the owner will ignore you and try to pinch pennies at your expense. What horrible and disappointing service.

Had dinner here when I was at a conference in madison. I thought the food was excellent! I had the pot roast and it was really tasty with a very nice portion of local vegetables. We also had the truffle fries and they were quite tasty with a very large portion.

Yikes. My husband and I chose to come here for our 10 year anniversary. The photos and menu looked great. The taste? Not so much.
My husband and I are foodies and are always trying new places. At least once a week. Super disappointed. The crab cakes were the highlight. But I would give those a 7/10. The lamb was okay but not nearly enough food for $45. The trio sounded good, a taste of different things, but the chicken was pink, the steak was chewy, even the steak knife couldn’t cut it. The ribs were good other than the constant shards of bone that you stumble upon when chewing. The mashed potato’s were good! But the green beans were way overcooked and floppy.
In the reservation, I mentioned it being our 10 year anniversary but the waiter didn’t acknowledge it. I ended up telling him and he just said “okay”. WOW! Thanks?
Didn’t even mention dessert. I was looking forward to the parfaits after seeing the many photos of them.
Don’t go. If you want steak, go to Ruth’s Chris. If you want BBQ go to liberty station down the street.

I just hosted a party at Bonfyre and the whole experience was fantastic. From the initial planning to the day of event, everything was great. Elizabeth, the event manager that I worked with was so friendly, helpful and went above and beyond to make the event a success. The day of staff was also wonderful to work with and the overall atmosphere and food were just as great. I’ll definitely be back for dinner but would also host another event here again and highly recommend!
