Bonfatto’s is a third generation 101 year-old family business. Guy and Pauline Bonfatto started it all on August 15, 1919 in downtown Bellefonte as a grocery and home delivery business. In 1958 John Bonfatto invented our famous Bonanza Sub Sandwich, which today is still a mainstay of the business. In 1990, grandson David Letterman (son of Rose Bonfatto) joined the business. In 1999 David and his Wife Sherri bought the business and a year later opened a full-service 140 seat estaurant and lounge in November 2000. David had always envisioned a smaller Italian Market. The two renovated a historical building and moved their business back downtown Bellefonte as Bonfatto’s Italian Market and Corner Cafe.

My favorite cafe shop in the Bellefonte/State College area! Their coffee and coffee flavors are absolutely delicious! I love to try their specials, but their classic flavors never disappoint either. They also have great cafe food, I love their chicken pesto panini, and their desserts are also so good! I’ve been here multiple times, a few times with a larger party. Although seating is limited, we were able to find seats. Also when it’s nice you can always go and sit in the park nearby and enjoy your food/drinks. Overall, I highly recommend stopping on by here!

Beautiful shop right in the center of a quaint little town. Delicious food, desserts, and coffee. Their GF breakfast sandwich was AMAZING. The macarons had just enough sweetness to satisfy and were bursting with flavor. Conveniently located across the street (and down just a little) from the city park.

The food is quality ingredients. We had lasagna and rigatoni. Large portions. We had take home. Topped off with amazing pear apricot smoothie with yogurt. Staff was friendly and efficient. I gave atmosphere a 4 because high ceilings make everything echo and quite noisy. We have found a new favorite!

Such an awesome cafe! Everything is homemade, even their awesome strawberry syrup for drinks! Staff is super friendly and the prices are extremely reasonable. Highly recommend their smoothies and macaroons too, fresh and super flavorful. I’ll definitely be back!

Great food and drinks! Fresh and tasty! Best quality cafe in the area! I really enjoy some of their pastries, the Italian sub is delicious and the Mediterranean quinoa bowl is awesome !

This was my second visit to Bonfattos. I wish I knew about it sooner. The staff is welcoming, the food is phenomenal, and the location is convenient. We loved the vodka penne the first time and this time we enjoyed the Italian tasting board. So delicious! It’s a cafe environment with regular tables and high top tables. They have a variety of food, marketplace items, ice cream, coffee, and pastries. The lemon bar is fantastic, as are the scones and bomboloni! I highly recommend this spot and will definitely be back whenever I’m in Bellefonte!!

Food here is admittedly very good and the atmosphere is like an Italian market. But they seem to either have poor management or really don’t seem to be customer focused (or both). We typically drive over from state college on Saturday or Sunday to eat here, and they close at 2 pm. They’ve been shutting down the inside dining area at 1:30 pm and requiring takeout only from 1-2 pm. We just went today and ordered at about 1:37 pm, were about to pay, and some guy came from the back and said the kitchen closed at 1:40 pm. The young lady at the register said “after this order, right?” and the guy said “no.” Nothing for us to do but leave… Bonfatto’s: you lost a couple of loyal customers for good (and probably will lose more, as more people were still coming in).
