Overall the food was good. The ribs were very well made, fall off the bone. The fried fish was okay but it had a little bit of old fryer oil taste. Collards and the mac-n-cheese were tasty, especially with a little hot sauce on the collards. I would go back again.

I decided to stop by after a recommendation from one of my co-workers. I came in and got the short rib platter that comes with 2 sides which i picked the Mac and cheese and collard greens. I also bought the cornbread and a side of sweet potato
First thing i ate was the greens, when i get greens it usually has ham cubes and has been simmering in water with butter but this was how greens should be. It has smoked pork in the greens and plenty of it. The taste of the greens was top notch, not over seasoned i only had to add a pinch of salt to the entire side and it was perfect.
Then i had the Mac and cheese, too many times I’ve had runny Mac and cheese and that is gross. creamy is good but not my preference. The Mac and cheese at bones is firm but moist. I grew up eating a Mac and cheese that you could cut like a slice of bread and pick up. If you hate that kind of Mac and cheese I’m sorry you love being forced to use utensils. The Mac has a good amount of black pepper but it’s not overpowering and has a good crust on top. I personally wished they use more garlic but i love garlic and won’t hold it against them
Next i went to the ribs. I got the sauce on the side and gave that a taste. Just your basic bbq sauce and was fine on the ribs but i chose to eat the ribs dry. The ribs had a little of natural smoke to it, the lady running the place said only a kiss because everyone around hates too much smoke. Ribs were very tender with a nice amount of spices on the meat.
I then went into the sweet potatoes which on the menu they just call “fluff” when i opened it i seen why. It’s whipped till it’s almost more air than potato. It’s good i almost cleaned my container of it but my only nitpick of it is that i only taste pumpkin pie seasoning and once again it wasn’t over seasoned there was plenty of the natural taste of the sweet potato was there but i would have loved more for something in there to make the potatoes stand out
Then i remembered i had corn bread. I open up the foil to a lovely corner piece. Give it a good smell and the waft of butter overcame me and i got a big grin. Took 2 big bites and it’s soft, it’s warm, it’s flavorful, it’s cornbread. Cornbread it is delicious. I then put it down to look at something on my phone. 5 minutes later took a bite and it was a 180. It became dry so fast that the bite i took i had to take a drink just to get it down. That’s the risk you take with the corner piece that gets the most heat. Either eat it all or feel the wrath of residual heat
I will be back, everything i got plus a 20oz soda came out to 20 bucks and i got my money’s worth

Awesome greens and Mac & cheese. Ribs fall off the bone goodness but (no smoke). Tasted boiled but bbq sauce saves them. Can’t wait till we’re in town again to try the wings…and other stuff.

Very well seasoned and authentic food neatly put together, no other foods mixing in with others; their platters are perfect. The place is also clean, inviting and tastefully designed. Definitely Five Star Takeout.
