Social Profile:

In 1897, John Bonanza came to this country with nothing but a dream. Like many others, he wanted a better life for his family, but more importantly, John wanted to make life better for other families. This passion for being a pillar of the community swiftly lead to the conversion of an old chicken coop, the original Bonanza Stand you see today. Since then, Bonanza family has served the community like one of its own for over 120 years and four generations in the heart of downtown Oyster Bay, New York. From the original lemon ice to the iconic Bonanza Dog, Bonanza’s represents the sweet generational legacy of John Bonanza, Michael, and Philip Sr. and now the 4th generation lives on Philip Bonanza, Jr. today.

A lemon-ice legend for over a century, this little shack scoops dozens of flavors plus light bites.

This a very cute old school snack hut. We only tried the ice-cream which was good. Unfortunately we didn’t try any of their other items. I’m told the Italian ices are very good. This place has been around forever and is located in the very quaint town of Oyster Bay. There is some outdoor seating in the back, or just have a walk with your treats. This is great spot for kids, or a desert on date night. We have to go back.

Highly recommend the battered fried onion rings! The large size isn’t that large though.

Hot dog was solid, I topped it with the sauces.

The blue raspberry Italian ice was delicious.

Lots of seating in their backyard, but a lot of people took food to go.

Bonanza’s Stand is a hidden gem in Oyster Bay, they serve Hot dogs and Italian ice for over a decade.

We had their hot dogs, onion rings, chicken wings and small Italian ice. It was overall decent with reasonable price.

Their signature Italian ice and we had Lemon & Peanut Butter to share. It’s really refreshing with delicate texture.

Cute little hot dog hut. Love it. The hot dogs are good and the Italian ices are very refreshing after the dog. So many flavors to choose from. There was a long line but it moved pretty quickly. My first time going was around 4 months ago but I have been back I think 3 times since then.
The French fries or potato wedges were also very good. Crispy on the outside and a good amount of hot soft potato inside.

Young inexperienced staff with glasses but customer service was okay. Hotdogs were not all that. Benches to eat in the back of stores. Powerlines ffrom the stores roof hang from other homes behind the store that are hazardous. So, be careful with tall children and small kids who climb tables like we experienced when we’re there. Over, it’s a place we recommend in a quaint nice town.

Bonanza has been around since 1897 so I was excited to try it. Overall, good dogs but they’re pretty basic and it doesn’t seem like they’re doing anything truly unique or special. Either way a place with that much history should definitely be eaten at.
