TOTAL RIP OFF!!! they OVER CHARGE for TINY PORTIONS. Ordered dinner for the family, spent over $110. Look at the picture – this is what you get when you order chicken Tika Masala with EXTRA CHICKEN – there were 7 pieces of chicken in the container ($30!!) The other two dishes in the picture were $25 each. For a TAKE OUT ONLY place – you should not be SCAMMING your customers with insignificant portions of food. Shame on you. 🙁

I never write reviews but….

I ignored all the signs that I should not have ordered from Bombay Hut in Waldwick, NJ. I happened to pull into the strip mall to make a phone call and noticed the restaurant. I thought, “I haven’t had Indian in a while, let’s give it a try.”

First sign: I was the only customer in the restaurant. I excused it, thinking maybe it wasn’t lunch or dinner time.
Second sign: The young girl behind the counter took my order and payment while sitting down, rushing me by saying I had less than 5 minutes to order the lunch special.

She told me it would be about ten minutes, so I waited outside. After fifteen minutes, I noticed a brown bag sitting on the counter. Since I was still the only customer, I asked if it was mine. She said, “You’re good to go.”

Well, it wasn’t so good. Back at the office, I opened the bag to find chicken instead of the lamb I ordered. The “lunch special” that supposedly comes with a salad and bottled water had neither. And the portion? Four tiny pieces of chicken. A coworker eating chicken wings next to me actually compared his one wing to my entire “entrée” — he had more meat.

And all of this cost me $18. For that price, you’d expect at least a proper portion and the order done correctly. Instead, I was left with a sad brown bag and a laughable excuse for a meal.

I immediately called the restaurant, and that’s when it went from disappointing to absurd. The same young woman answered and told me she didn’t remember my order because they had “quite a few customers.” (I was literally the only customer.) When I explained I was given the wrong protein and barely any of it, her reply was that “that’s the norm” — and she seemed confused as to why I was even calling.

The entire experience was insulting. From the empty restaurant, to the dismissive service, to the wrong and pitifully small meal, to the non-existent customer service — it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.

Final verdict: Don’t waste your time or money at Bombay Hut. $18 should buy you a meal, not a bad joke. There are plenty of places that value their customers and serve actual portions. This is not one of them.

I decided to stop in at this restaurant for lunch. When I arrived I parked in the small plaza parking. I walked into a cute restaurant! I was helped and greeted by Neha the owner and she was great! I ordered:

Manchurian Shrimp (gravy)
Chicken tikka naan
chicken madras
Dahi kebabs
Szechuan hakka noodles
rice pudding

My favorite dish was the hakka noodles and I also loved the naan! All in all it was a good experience!

a little on the pricer side but food was tasty and came out to be two meals for me so it balances out if you tend to have a smaller appetite. inside is very nice, places to sit while you wait for your food and has a large window to watch the kitchen.

And don’t forget the delicious desserts as Rice Pudding! The place is also very clean and welcoming in the meantime you wait for your order. Customer service is amazing and make sure to provide the best in every order!

It’s our go to spot for Indian food but was so disappointed this time. Past Saturday we got 4 naans from Bombay hut. Front was uncooked and back was burnt. We had guests over and felt so bad feeding them burnt naans. 🙁 I don’t think anyone cares there anymore.

I wish there is a zero star. I ordered delivery and they forgot the rice. When I called the only thing they would do is to give me rice the next order. They couldn’t send someone else to delivery the rice and they wouldn’t give me a refund, not even a partial refund, until they get the food back. I really don’t know how ridiculous they can get. Needless to say we will NEVER order from here again.

Bombay Hut was our “Go-To” takeout place for a decade, but something has severely changed recently, likely a management shift. After many years of consistently giving this place 5-star reviews, I am unfortunately forced to change my rating. While the food quality remains genuinely good, the value has collapsed.
The staff’s attitude is unpleasant, and the prices are up ~50% – now higher than comparable local Indian food restaurants. As a result of these changes in service and value, I have also stopped giving them tips… The portions are now significantly smaller and unbalanced. It used to be packed with meat, and I was happy to buy extra tikka masala gravy for more flavor; now, the dishes are mostly gravy with very little meat, meaning I have to buy a whole extra meal and extra rice just to get enough meat. After ten years of loyalty, this decline means they have lost me and all my local friends as customers.
