The Manta (beef) was wholesome in size and refined in taste. It was silky yet sturdy enough not to break apart when I doused it with the twin accompanying sauces.

The Toho Kordak was plentiful for two or maybe three persons. Despite the abundant presence of whole dried red chili there was no regret in not notifying the server of our aversion to elevated spice levels. The bed of wide flat hand-pulled noodles added a nice touch to the shallow but large serving bowl. The bite size chicken pieces were on the bone. Given my inexperience with Uyghur cuisine, I would have accepted this entree to be yet another variation of Laghman.

The Chicken Kabab was served on two skewers but slid off easily. Of course, most of my chicken grilling experience used to be limited to skinless but the crunchiness of the skin here ensured a wider experience variety for me.

The Yogurt dessert was served with a generous topping of apricot preserves and a sprinkling of finely crushed peanuts. If you have peanut allergy, beware!

The interior is tastefully decorated, the serving ware are regional and I presume the background music more modern than traditional.

There are many other distinctive menu items to tackle during future visits but the one that I look forward to the most is this chef’s variations of Laghman.

Had a great experience at Bogda. I love Uyghur food and was excited to try them and they didn’t disappoint. Got the laghman noodles. I asked them what the difference between the laghman and Bogda noodles were and they said it was different veggies and the laghman was more homestyle.

They definitely tasted homestyle with the fresh handpulled noodles and veggies and meat on top. Only thing to improve that the beef was a little dry. Also got an order of lamb skewers and they were very juicy and big with a nice char. Seasoned perfectly with the cumin giving a slight tingle.

Always a fan of specialized cuisines like this and definitely want to come back and try more.
