We went for lunch, it was really very reasonably priced barbecue. Rachel was our server she was cool and friendly and a little bit funny too. The pickle chips and cheese curds are awesome! Slaw, beans, mac and cheese for all really good sides. The burnt ends were a little less fatty than I prefer but if you like them really meaty they were good. I think they had like six different barbecue sauces which was nice, rate tap beer selection, as well as other drink selection.

At its core, Bob’s is a solid BBQ joint with a cliche atmosphere – (lots of TVs playing sports stuff to distract from human connection). But that’s not to say it’s a negative. In particular, for a small town like Dodgeville, it’s a unique gem. Portions are hearty, side options are abundant (sweet potato fries AND sweet potato tots among them), and the service was great on all my visits. There are more sauce options than I would have expected – but their classic BBQ sauce is expectedly great.

I’ve probably been there four times since they opened, and a basic lunch leaves me stuffed every time. My one critique is highly subjective. The meats would be even better with heavie seasoning and smoke. Prior to the addition of sauce, I do find their brisket to be lacking in flavor.

Overall though, it’s a must visit if you find yourself in Dodgeville on an empty stomach. Park in the lot behind – street parking can be sparse -and give them your business at least once.

My wife and I decided to take about a 45 minute road trip to Dodgeville yesterday with our daughter. We wanted to try some place different than are usual places likes North & South and Beef Butter BBQ. When we walked in, We pleasantly surprised on how large the place was. The person at the front desk was very friendly and seated us right away. Once seated, a Waitress showed up in about 2 minutes and asked what we wanted to drink. We looked over the menu and our daughter decided that she wanted to try 2 different things (Ribs & Pulled Pork). I went with my usual which is Brisket (Love me good brisket). My wife decided on the Jerk Chicken Salad. My daughter ended up loving her pulled pork (very plain) & applesauce. She tried a couple of different sauces but decided to just eat it plain. She didn’t try her Ribs although they looked very good. My brisket was very tender and very good. They also gave a very good portion of it which was exciting. It included some sliced and some cut up. The original sauce is smoky and sweet but I was a bigger fan of the Razzberry sauce. My wife’s jerk chicken was a little dry and not very spicy. She said she would get something different next time. Overall I would recommend this place if you are in the area. I just have 2 little things for them. #1 – Some crayons and a coloring page or something would be really cool for the kids. The sticker was nice leaving. #2 – Add Brisket to the Kids Menu or option to buy brisket on the side if possible (My daughter loves Brisket and I think other kids do also). North & South has add-on that you can get which is either 4 or 6 ounces of Brisket which is perfect for her and we share some of our sides with her.

This is a review from a Texan on this BBQ. I will say this BBQ is as close to Texas as I’ve gotten north of Texas. They have multiple flavors of sauces you can try on your brisket, pulled pork or whatever your heart desires. I asked if they had sweet tea our waitress Jennifer ( was awesome also) said yes. I was expecting some flavored tea, nope, real sweet tea. I had brisket, pulled pork, ribs, pork chop, cornbread, beans and creamy coleslaw. . I tried different sauces on the pork chop can’t really pick a favorite because they were all good in their own way. The brisket and pulled pork in original sauce the ribs a dry rub. The cornbread was kind of a mix between yellow and jiffy. Not real sweet like jiffy or dry like yellow. I was on a weekend trip and live 3 hrs away. I would make the 3 hr trip just for dinner here. They have shirts, glasses and sauces to buy. So if given the chance DONT YOU DARE PASS UP BOB’S. You never forgive yourself. When you go by hope you get Jennifer she was great. Thanks BOB’S for a great dining experience.
