I recently made it a point to try all the pubs in the Barnstable area. It took awhile.
Bobby Byrne’s is the most welcoming with a great menu. The staff is excellent and the food is superb- best chowder I’ve had in a long while.
Steak tips are very good- salads are cold and fresh. Guinness is poured properly and they keep the games updated in the TVs.
Highly recommended.

Take my mom here, she likes the options, either burger or fish. Food is good, I had a burger this time which was very good. Sat in bar area. Very quiet when we were there late lunch.

I began my own tradition of stopping at the place on Bearses Way on my way to the late ferry to Nantucket after a long drive from upstate NY. I usually get a couple of the ciders you have on tap and potatoe skins to go. The first two times the food was so good that I brought my wife there on a different trip. However the last few times left something to be desired – cold take out or tonight 10/7 no bacon or anything resembling what I’ve received in my other visits. I called and talked to a gentleman that said he was sorry but other than that seemed unconcerned. My purpose for calling was to let someone who cares know what you are serving. I’m sure I’ll be back, but I’ll have to think twice about take out.

Amazing. Our 1st time here… male bartender (didn’t get his name) was attentive and very nice. Had the general tso chicken bites… Best I ever had… all white meat, hand cut and battered. Wifey had the grilled cheese and soup and pasta salad combo…. delicious!!! A hidden gem. Mad at myself for not stopping here sooner. Ps… drinks were well poured and priced right too.
Edit: we have come back 4 or 5 more times… each visit is better than the last. They have the best general chicken over rice that I have ever tasted. Its handcut and hand breaded with homemade sauce. The bay scallops were out of this world. The soup and sandwich deal is superb. The place is spotless. I could go on and on. If you have not been here you should go you will thank me later.
EDIT: WE HAVE BEEN BACK PROBABLY A DOZEN TIMES SINCE THIS REVIEW WAS POSTED… it just gets better every time.And the food is still phenomenal.

Solid, year-round, family friendly place for lunch or dinner and drinks. The bar and seating outside is a great place to enjoy the commons and a meal in the summer or early fall. Staff are always friendly. Prices are very reasonable as well, with specials throughout the week.

The quality of the food is absolutely amazing, with the only reason I deducted a star was for the attention of the waiters/waitresses. If you’re not buying any drinks, they wont care to be attentive towards you so heads up. Aside from that, amazing quality and portions for the price!

got a small garden salad as my dinner half the lettuce was wilted and slimy. I didn’t say anything picked out most of the lettuce it was about half of it but the cucumbers and cherry tomatoes were fresh all 2 slices and 3 tomatoes did I mention it was $9!!!!! A SIDE SALAD!!!!! waitress was clearly tired and been working there a long time and lost her luster for customer service in general. Taking orders was like annoying for her. over all I would not go back.

Nice pub. The service is quite good and atmosphere pleasant. The Byrne burger special was fantastic and my martini glass was so full I had to take the first sip with the glass resting on the table.
