The food is absolutely delicious! The pita bread and hummus were both the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Soooo good! The lamb was also amazing. Also had fries and those were very good. But I was less interested in the fries than I usually would have been because all I wanted to eat was more pita and hummus (which we did order more of!)

The open kitchen concept is very cool. Love that. And while I still rated them 5 stars, there is room for improvement. So I hope management is open to suggestions to improve.

First, it’s a fine dining establishment serving gourmet food. There should be servers, instead of having to order at a counter and take a number like I’m at McDonald’s or something.

Second, some of the tables are very tiny and it’s hard just to get the food you ordered to fit on them. These boxes with silverware and napkins are cute but take up way too much real estate on those tiny tables. You should ditch those, too provide more room.

Third, the meat portions were a bit pricy given how much meat was actually on the skewers. And we were left a little hungry still. Would be nice to have a way to get a little more bang for your buck on the main item. Even if price was a tad higher, at least I’d feel full and satisfied if it were a more substantial amount of meat. Or maybe you do like 1 for $12 and 2 for $18, so if I want more it doesn’t cost me double for the extra…

Finally, pet peave of mine. Kind of a minor issue. But if you’re offering tea, Arnold Palmers, etc you really should have those little ceramic boxes with sugar and sugar free sweeteners in them available at the bar, if people ask. That’s pretty standard at most any restaurant. I appreciate the bar tender offering to add syrup to my Arnold Palmer but I’m diabetic and try to avoid sugar if I can. So having those sweetners would have been handy.

Anyway, overall great experience, AMAZING tasting food and we will be back!

It is nice that they opened up in Downtown Beaverton in the old Afuri spot. The place is still spacious as before with very minimal changes. You order at the counter and then find a seat. If you want more food, they have a separate line to order at. The plates are on the smaller side, almost like tapas style, so it’s good to be able to try many things. We ordered a good variety of food (can add up) to share. I really liked their hummus and tzatziki. The tzatziki was super refreshing and good well with almost anything. The pear and arugula salad was also addition. The sausage and chicken skewers were flavorful. The pork chop was a bit dry for me, but great when dipped with the tzatziki. The soft serve with the magic shell and pistachios were a great way to end the meal.

Excellent Mediterranean inspired restaurant. The sausage skews were delicious and so was the chicken. Both were juicy, didn’t lose any moisture on the grill. The humans and tzatziki were perfect. Definitely coming back here.

The food was tasty and every dish paired well together. In general I’m not a fan of counter ordering, especially when the prices are on the high side. I recommend the squash hummus but it would be nice if some bread came with it.

SPENDY SUBURBAN SPOT

I was super stoked to hear of Bluto’s opening a second location in the Beav, but was verklemt when I realized you have to park (on the street or in a paid lot) like it’s Portland. So I put on my big girl panties and had lunch there with my family. At 11:30 on a Tuesday I easily found free street parking.

They have that casual business model where you order at the counter, they give you a number, and then they bring the food to your table. This is annoying and toned down the sophistication of a restaurant with so much promise. The service was friendly, helpful, and exceptional so that is AWESOME.

What restaurant offers hummus on the menu, but charges for bread to eat it with? Blutos… It’s a pity their FANTASTIC hummus doesn’t come with at least one piece of their pita bread or fresh veggies to enjoy it with.

The pita at $3 a piece is good(not great), but wayyyyy overpriced. $12 for 4 people to have a piece of pita with their meal is ludicrous and $23 to have a pita and hummus platter for 4 people is pure insanity.

Both my parents got the pork chops and my mom (with dementia) wanted to send it back. I told her this isn’t the kind of place to do that and traded some of my Slouvaki for one of her thin-cut pork chops. She was right… Very tough and overcooked. Almost inedible, but I am not the kind of lass to send food back to the kitchen.

We tried all the slouvaki except the sausage. In order of preference: chicken, lamb, veggies, shrimp. The veggies skewer was wildly expensive for two Brussels sprouts, one fingerling potato, and two small pieces of zucchini. I would pass on the shrimp, as I didn’t like the topping and they were slightly overcooked.

I love pickles and theirs are delicious.

The magic chocolate soft serve was fun.

I will give this place another shot.

Loved lunch here. The squash hummus and wedge salads were standouts. The tahini choc magic shell with pistachios is a MUST. Vibes are good, service is good.

We went here because of a coupon received in the mail
I will go back anytime.
One should check the online menu though because the food isn’t for everyone. I loved it.

The employees were wonderful.. Helping us become familiar with the choices as well as letting us know that even though they don’t have coffee the shop next door does.
I think I already wrote a review immediately after eating at Bluto’s.
Regardless, do give this fairly new establishment a try
Chances are you too will appreciate the ambiance and culture .
