I’m always checking floors and how much attention is needed to be clean. Silverware wrappers, sugar wrappers and the bathroom were all in need of attention and none of it got done while we were there.
With that being said, our waiter was good and a super attitude!
Food was good, not great. The butter should on the waffle. The corned beef could or should have a meat juice gravy option, it was a lil bit dry.
The flavors of both plates did not disappoint.
We would return again!

The hashbrowns were terrible, the krakatoa omlet was a mixed bag…overcooked but decent flavor. The wheat toast was the best part of this breakfast. The two severs were ok.

After eating here 3 days in a row my report is that the food is very inconsistent. One day you may have a great meal and the 2 other days it is sub par. Most of the customers seem to be the same people so maybe no one looks at this review. Servers on all 3 days were great.

The Bluebird never disappoints! The staff is friendly and always says hello on arrival and that is important to me. I never want to be treated as a burden when entering a restaurant, and the Bluebird is the opposite of that. The food is wonderful and reasonably priced. I’ve tried everything from the breakfast (my favorite and you can order it all day) to the salads to the burgers and sandwiches and it is delicious every time!

First time being here(2/6/26) with my girlfriend and it was so good. The food was so good like honestly everything was cooked so perfect. Definitely one of the best services and food quality around. Seriously food is so freaking good !! Hernan was our server and was very prompt and accommodating. Just amazing all around!! 10/10 recommend.

Honestly I think they could do better with a bit more knowledge of their menu and quality of food but the staff was friendly. I clearly seemed to rub them the wrong way when I unfortunately had to return my meal. As a long time hospitality and food service manager myself, as well as a vegan I pride myself in dining spots that will allow myself and my husband (non vegan) to enjoy a meal together, all the more I’m extremely emotional with my food because it can be a hard journey, being vegan (dietary restrictions) while being pregnant as well. I was excited when I was informed they had a beyond burger it’s one of my favorite substitutions. You can imagine my surprise to a Garden patty(made of pulsed veggies) instead of my fan favorite Beyond burger (photos attached)
As well as my husband ordering a NY strip and receiving a fatty almost ribeye? (Maybe our fault for ordering steak at a breakfast joint) but you don’t judge a book is my motto. Even as two Black people driving thru Iowa I expected this city known for its community to welcome us but I felt pretty judged by the staff and local residents for having a preference and dietary needs. Nonetheless, if you can appear as simple and in the box as possible, you’ll probably love this place.

I have been here twice. First time, the food was good, service was not good. Second time, it was awful. I had chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy. It just wasn’t good at all. The gravy, to me, had an awful taste. The potatoes were just ok, and when I asked for a roll, or if they had any, my waiter didn’t even know what a roll was.
Because of two unpleasant experiences, I will not return.

Outside for a brunch, completely shaded and comfy. Inside dif smell like a traditional diner. I had Huevos Azul and did not go away hungry. Took the hash browns and someone’s extra scrambled eggs home.the French Fries that others had seemed to lack that crispness that I enjoy and we’re not salted at all.
