Reviews
The service was impeccable from start to finish. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience feel smooth and well paced.
As for the food, it was very good, fresh, and well prepared. The seafood quality is clear, and everything was cooked with care. That said, while the dishes were great, they were not the absolute best I have ever had. Also, the portion sizes are on the smaller side, especially considering the price point, and the place is definitely on the expensive end.
Parking can also be a challenge, especially during peak hours, so be prepared to circle around or walk a bit.
Overall, Blue Point Grill is a high quality, upscale seafood spot with fantastic service and a polished atmosphere. The food is very good, though the portions and pricing might make it more suited for when you want a refined experience rather than a big, hearty meal.
Right away the experience started badly. The hostess (slightly overweight, I think her name was Nicky) didn’t even greet us. No “hi”, no “good afternoon”, not even a smile, nothing. I walked up and told her we had a reservation and she just grabbed the menus and walked us to a table right next to the bathroom.
Normally I wouldn’t care if it was just me and my wife, but since I had family visiting I politely asked if we could move to a table closer to the window. Mind you, the place was basically EMPTY. We were probably the first table there.
Her response?: “NO. THAT’S THE ONLY TABLE I HAVE FOR YOU.”
I was honestly surprised by the tone, but I didn’t want to start the evening with drama so I said fine and we sat down by the bathroom.
Then I asked if we could get one extra chair because I had accidentally reserved for 6 but we were actually 7 people. My mistake, totally.
She immediately started yelling:
“YOU BOOKED FOR 6 NOT 7! I CAN’T GIVE YOU A CHAIR! YOU NEED TO SQUEEZE IN! IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT I’LL BE HAPPY TO GIVE THE TABLE TO SOMEONE ELSE!”
I was honestly shocked. Embarrassed. Humiliated. My family was standing there looking at me like what is going on.
Who talks to customers like that??
At that point I was about to walk out, then I swallowed it and did not want to make a scene because I had family visiting from out of town and didn’t want to ruin the night.
But honestly this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had in my life. The hostess is literally the first point of contact with customers and she was rude, aggressive, and acting like she was on some kind of power trip.
I don’t care if someone is stressed or underpaid, or if its a popular restaurant or not, or if its fully booked or not, that does NOT justify talking to customers like that.
I rarely write negative reviews, but the way we were treated was absolutely unacceptable. Completely trashy and unprofessional customer service.
I started with grilled calamari – I was skeptical at first, since calamari is generally fried, but I’m glad I took the waitress recommendation. It was delicious! The meat was perfectly cooked with a nice garlic sauce – perfect texture and flavor. The same for the grilled octopus as well. Even the Greek salad was amazing.
For my entree, I got the crispy barramundi on risotto. It was very good, maybe a bit too crispy for my liking, but the flaky white fish inside was scrumptious.
Finished off dinner with a pound cake brûlée. Which is like a pound cake, but one side is brûléed, forming a crispy torched crust. Amazing.
Will definitely be back again!
I will start with that the staff is very friendly. Kept us updated on the status of our order and they have good communication with the kitchen to know what’s out.
We started with sweet chili shrimp and fried calamari…… so good! The shrimp was fresh never have we had it that good! A must try if you get the chance to go.
Entree was short rib and garlic mashed potatoes, Costa Rican mahi mahi, crab stuffed shrimp and fish & chips. Beautiful presentation, perfect portion for each person. No over or under seasoning everything was just right.
Desert we shared a passion fruit ice cream and mango sorbet. A nice change from what we had for dinner very fragrant and unique flavors.
No matter, this place will remain in my permanent rotation.
