Blue Moon Over Avila is a total 5-star experience across the board. We had the wine flights and loved how fun and well-curated they were—perfect for trying a variety while enjoying the Avila Beach vibes. My wife ordered the Duck à l’Orange and it was absolutely delicious, and I went with the trio combo (Croque Monsieur, Caesar salad, and French onion soup) which was the perfect mix—everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared.
Shoutout to our waiter Jazz—he was incredibly friendly and his customer service was truly top notch. He made us feel welcome and honestly elevated the whole night. Great food, great atmosphere, great service. We’ll definitely be back again soon!

Had a lovely date night dinner here! We went on a Friday during the winter time, so it wasn’t busy. We made reservations but were easily able to get sat early since we were hungry. We sat outside and even though it was cold there were plenty of heaters to make it comfortable. The view right next to the beach was wonderful!
The staff was very friendly and made pleasant conversation with us about recommendations and the area.
The food was just as delicious! We shared the baked bree starter, then split the lobster roll, with salad, and the croque monsieur with clam chowder and salad (which was my favorite). Had we not been stuffed, we would have tried one of the desserts as well.
Good date night spot, or a gathering with friends. Overall a super cute spot by the beach with a variety of cozy meals and pleasant atmosphere!

The location and atmosphere is great! The kids that work here are friendly and working hard. My partner is French so we love a good Bistro!
The wines choices were great, but, the food was disappointing. The Soup à l’onion seemed watered down, but the cheese on top was good. Clam Chowder was comforting. Baked Brie (small) was great! Sadly, my $50 scallops were smaller sized and a bit chewy. The “Cognac” Cream sauce was just thick and creamy without flavor. I didn’t finish my main course.
The staff was wonderful and hit by a late night rush at 8pm on a Friday night. This may also be the reason our food was lacking. We would give it another try.

My husband and I had dinner here. It seemed like a nice spot where we could listen to the live music on the promenade. However, they sat us in a highly trafficked area with the sun blasting in our faces. When we asked to move to a table that just left (we hadn’t been served yet), the terrible server would not let us. We ordered olives as a snacking appetizer, but they were so incredibly salty. I love salty foods, but I had to rinse these with my glass of water. Then I was looking forward to the lobster roll, again, it was so salty I could barely eat it. I ended up removing the lobster from the roll and mixing it with the greens. My husband says the french onion dip was good, though. I woulnd’t go back.

Great experience this past Labor Day Weekend. Sometimes small towns have overpriced food that doesn’t deliver on taste. I was worried about that here but couldn’t have been more wrong. Great value for the dishes we got and the service was top notch. They were slammed and our server was serving the entire outside area and was still extremely efficient and polite. Wine flight and charcuterie for $50 was incredible once we saw the pours and size of the board. Scallops were great and the beef bourguignon was one of the best I’ve ever had. Definitely go here for a nice dinner if you’re in Avila. No need to make the drive to SLO or Pismo.

Ordered Blue Moon Sangria. Waiting for another drink for 30 min. Still sitting here and no one coming to ask. Am going to walk to the front now to ask for service. Ill just ask for the check. Only reason its 2 stars is the sangria is good. Reason why our waiter never arrived” there is only 2 of us”. Annie said the salad is good.

Bubbling Brie was amazing. Wish we had ordered one each!
The Duck a L’Orange was delicious.
The Wild Mushroom Ravioli was delicious but the portion could’ve been bigger.
We would definitely come back. The staff were all lovely.

One of the best places to eat in Avila. Had the champaign flight and charcuterie board as well as the lobster roll. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Well worth the price. Not to mention the outdoor seating overlooking the beach. Will definitely be back. ..oh and all of the staff were amazing and the owner was friendly greeting patrons and making sure everyone was enjoying their experience.

Food was really good but expensive! Great view by the water. My boyfriend and I went here on Valentine’s Day and they had a $79 per person menu with an appetizer, entree and dessert. I got the red pepper soup, filet mignon, and crème brûlée. My boyfriend got the beet salad, duck, chocolate cake with raspberry. Overall was really tasty and great service!

The wife & I stayed in Avila for 5 days & had dinner at Blue Moon Over Avila Restaurant 3 out of those 5 days. The food is excellent. I can highly recommend the wine & charcuterie board pairing. The clam chowder soup is the best we’ve ever had. The beef bourguignon was amazing. And if you are into salads, I’d recommend the Classic Salad Niçoise w/ Spanish Albacore. If the food wasn’t enough to keep us coming back, the service at Blue Moon over Avila Restaurant needs to be equally recognized. The servers were knowledgeable, kind, energetic, & worked so well as a team we felt like we had a whole staff waiting on us. Thank you to the staff & cooks for helping to give us such a great experience. We will see you again on our next visit.
